25.01.2022 * THANK YOU * Today we received the wonderful news that our lease has been renewed for 10 YEARS! This huge achievement would not have been possible without our exceptional local leaders who have been working non-stop, behind-the-scenes to keep us where we belong - an important part of our community.... All our families and children thank you Louise Crawford - Climate Activist, James Newbury MP - Member for Brighton, Cr Dick Gross - Canal Ward - City of Port Phillip, Nina Taylor MP, and the City Of Port Phillip - this happy outcome would not be possible without your tireless efforts working for your community.

22.01.2022 IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR FAMILIES WHO HAVE A CHILD ENROLLED IN CHILD CARE: Whether you’ve lost your job or are keeping your child home to prevent the spread of cor...onavirus, please don’t un-enrol your child. If you’ve lost your job or are working reduced hours, there’s financial support you can access. Please don’t just pull your child out of care. To access financial support, log on to MyGov and apply for temporary financial hardship (see below screenshot). This means the government may pay your childcare fees IN FULL for 13 weeks. If you’re choosing to keep your child home, the government has extended the number of allowable absences that can be covered by the Child Care Subsidy (CCS). This may support you to keep your child home and still receive the CCS. Remember, keeping your child enrolled will help your child care service to continue paying educators. It will also ensure that your child care service doesn’t go bankrupt and that you can return to work when our economy is ready to get back on track.

22.01.2022 Lady Forster Kindergarten National Reconciliation Week: 27 May to 3 June ... The theme for National Reconciliation Week for 2020 is ‘In This Together’ This Wednesday at 12 noon, on the first day of Reconciliation Week, our kindergarten will stop and take time to acknowledge country as National Reconciliation Week commences around the country. Each group at the kindergarten acknowledges country at the start of each ‘group time’ This practice is embedded for our teachers and children (bubups) and we look forward to this special acknowledgement on Wednesday. We encourage others to do the same as we are ‘in this together’ #InThisTogether2020 #NRW2020 Acknowledgement of Country: We are proud to acknowledge the Boonwurrung as the first people of this land, in which we live, love and play Acknowledgement to spirit of the land: We promise to look after the land and the water. We promise to look after the Bubups

21.01.2022 Some of our kindergarten children have been hard at work creating art for the Paint A Little Smile Project. The Sacred Heart Mission in St Kilda would love to receive artworks from children that they could hang up around their community hostels for their residents to see. A bit of colour and happiness would be greatly appreciated as their residents are all in lock down at the moment. Post your art works to: Sacred Heart Mission C/O Katie Lockett... 87 Grey St St Kilda 3182 To make this engaging and spread the idea check out the private facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/paintalittlesmile See more

16.01.2022 Today we had Jaeden Williams who is a proud Yalukit Willam man of the Boonwurrung- our first people of Port Phillip Bay. Jaeden came to do a Welcome to Country Smoking Ceremony with the children and to teach them about first peoples culture and history. The children loved this experience and we are always fascinated to learn more about Boonwurrung history.

10.01.2022 Last week the children harvested a bumper crop from our veggie garden to sell to parents for a gold coin donation. Sometimes on our weekly beach/bush walk the children see evidence of homeless people living on the foreshore, so we have decided to donate the proceeds to Sacred Heart Mission who provide meals and support to those experiencing disadvantage in our community. The children have worked hard on the garden for the past few months and we have raised $100 to help feed those doing it tough this Christmas. We are so proud of the children for all their hard work and interest in social justice.

09.01.2022 A great video with Maggie Dent about talking to children about coronavirus and how to make the best of home isolation. https://www.facebook.com/354115391435898/posts/1479364448910981/?vh=e&d=n

06.01.2022 Volunteers are at the heart of our organisation and during National Volunteer Week we thank all of our community-past and present for the hours of service you have given LFK. From cutting up fruit to building our vegetable garden- your contribution, both big and small is important to the day to day business of our kindergarten. We particularly acknowledge our wonderful committee of management who have dedicated countless hours to ensure the service is able to remain viable during one of the most challenging times in our history due to the covid-19 pandemic.

04.01.2022 This week we called into Elwood Angling Club on our beach walk to check on how Steve is going with his boat build. The children are convinced that he is building a pirate ship! Is is great getting to know our neighbours and building community connections.

03.01.2022 MERRY CHRISTMAS What a fun day! Thank you to all of our Lady Forster families for coming and celebrating an incredible 2019 with us yesterday. The weather may have been grey but that didn’t stop us from having the best time! Thank you to the incredibly talented elf Simon for entertaining our children once again - you left them in awe! And of course to our resident facepainter, Rose - the kids just LOVE you! ... Happy Holidays to all our families.

02.01.2022 Great news just in: Lady Forster Kindergarten is the lucky recipient of a $1200 #TelstraKids grant to help build on our kitchen garden. We have been able to purchase some new plants, wheelbarrows, gumboots, books, watering cans and more to help the children learn about the farm to plate process-and their environmental impact. Thanks @Telstra
