20.01.2022 REMINDER There is an app for everything out there and a popular favourite these days is Canva. I'm sure you have heard of it but in case you haven't... look it up. Canva is a FREE graphic design platform, used to create social media graphics, presentations, posters, documents, and other visual content. This app has everything from animating your social media posts to creating an invitation for your next event. ... While NOTHING beats a professional graphic designer, sometimes they just aren't something we have the luxury to afford. This app is a good second option, especially for the last-minute masterpiece.

18.01.2022 Tiptoeing around what to post? Here are four types of content to make creating a post easy and create value for your audience. 1. Educate ... Share your expertise...give a tip or a step by step how to. That could be how you put together a delicious platter of local produce, or the best way to stage a room to take a photo. 2. Inspire Offer endless amounts of encouragement or share what inspires you. Share your favourite podcast or local person that inspires you. Or use your favourite photo with a good vibes quote reminding your audience their doing great. 3. Be personal Show a bit of your personality with some humor. Or share a glimpse of your day to day. Maybe shout out your favourite place to grab a coffee in the morning, or what activities you get up to on the weekend with your family. 4. Recycle When in doubt, reuse. Share a post from someone you follow who also aligns with what you do. Or reuse your own content, maybe someone missed it last time you shared it or you have new followers now who are waiting to see it.

16.01.2022 I'm all in and I'm ready to be in it with you! Last week I took the big leap and finished up at my job to focus on Lady May Media. It was sad to leave such an awesome team but it was a see you soon not a goodbye. So, today marks day one of full time (or as full time as you can be with a 10-month-old), and if I'm being real with you... it hasn't been as productive as originally hoped so far, but I'm staying optimistic!... Do you remember what it was like to take the big leap into business? Or have a memorable first-day story?

12.01.2022 Have you ever heard of a collab-preneur? Neither had I until I came across the word while writing my website! But no better word describes what I am all about. My aim is to not only work with you on your media and marketing, but also collaborate with you to make awesome ideas come to life!... One reason I try to offer the "whole package" is so we can work TOGETHER to create a look that can span from your website, to your business stationary, and into your social media. I want it to feel like it carries your voice and business ethics with the passion it deserves! Now it is your turn, what is your elevator pitch? In 30 seconds tell me.... "I am____ I help____ I do____ so they can____"

12.01.2022 How do you get a good profile photo? 1. Keep it on brand; make sure you consider the clothes you are wearing, the background, the general tone and that it fits with your overall look if you edit photos yourself, use the same filters as the photos in your feed. 2. Just like your profile bio, your picture needs to convey both your personality and your brand/business so needs some planning to get right. If you are a florist, you could be holding out a bunch of flowers,... if you are a cafe owner, sit in your cafe space with a signature drink? But remember there is a fine line between using these props well to help tell a story and looking a bit try-hardyou’ll know what feels right after a few different takes. 3. Find that good lighting. Ask any photographer, lighting can make or break a picture! Best bet is inside by a generous window, the sunlight becomes filtered and even. Face yourself just off to one side rather then face onto the window, this will help give your face some definition. Otherwise outside on an overcast day is always a winner too. No harsh shadows are what your after! 4. Smile! People respond to smiling faces far more than anything else, its just human nature. So front up to the camera with your shoulders down and back and your chest out and a confident, professional smile on that gorgeous face of yours. 5. Choose your background carefully; it should be timeless so your arent having to change it every few months. For example, no Christmas trees in the background and no wedding dresses! Avoid a busy background of trees, buildings or a crowded beac. Choose a simple, clean background with beautiful natural light. 6. Be front and center, the photo is staring you! Don’t stand too far backwards, those profile photos on Instagram especially are tiny so you need to make your face as clear and easy to see as possible! Still not sure? #selfiesforintroverts this hashtag is full of great ideas for taking photos of yourself when you hate taking photos of yourself!! thanks to Sarah Joy Photography

11.01.2022 Get into the habit of asking yourself "does this support the life I'm trying to create?"

10.01.2022 Spelling and Grammar Where do you stand on its importance in social media? I follow two incredible women who both have a wonderfully loyal following on social media, but have opposing opinions on the topic. I myself... am not that great at it. However, I can appreciate the strength it has and how grammar can change the way a sentence is read. So I use a great, free, online tool called Grammarly! ... To be honest its predictive text feature is very annoying on my phone and has lead me to send messages with the wrong word. But on the computer, it's amazing. Like spell check it correct's spelling errors, it also suggests correct punctuation and word changes. To top it off it suggests the emotion of your text! Grammarly thinks this text was optimistic, informal, and confident

08.01.2022 Last month my first official project as Lady May Media went live! An overhaul of Banyan Tree Caravan Park's website This project also got to include a little design and a little photography but definitely included a lot of fun! Johnno and Leeny, like many of their customers will tell you, are like no others and are always a pleasure to work with! So next time your out visiting Litchfield, stop in at the tree and have a cold one! If you're lucky you might see a flash of a girl mowing in a bikini or the man in the big cowboy hat might just sing a song.

06.01.2022 I come from a land down under, where beer does flow and men chunder I think there will be a bit of this going on today

04.01.2022 3 things I'm feeling cheerful about Well, we are one month down for 2021... How has it gone for you so far? What are you feeling cheerful about? 1. The first thing I'm feeling cheerful about is handing over my first project as Lady May Media to Banyan Tree Caravan Park. This beautiful green oasis is owned by two mates of mine and I have never heard a bad word about their relaxing getaway! I was honored when they asked me to help with rebranding their logo and website... kee...p your eye out on their age for the launch of it this month! 2. What could make you more cheerful than the well-timed finding of a motivational podcast affirming all your thoughts on managing your time as you begin a new business! How to be Indistractable in a chaotic world with Nir Eyal by #HashtagAuthentic. This podcast is for small businesses, bloggers, and online creatives. Host Sara Tasker explores the secrets to online success for dreamers, makers, and creatives, with practical tips and inspiring stories. 3. Last but not least I'm feeling cheerful about my upcoming trip home to Townsville this Friday! I'll be taking my little girl Miss Abby to meet some family who gets to be graced by her gorgeous smile thanks to COVID! But most of all we will be celebrating my bigger mini-me, my little sister's 21st birthday! I hope you can also find something to feel cheerful about as we begin this new week of a new month. See you again soon, Tess - Lady May

04.01.2022 It's ok to take the weekend off, work will be waiting for you tomorrow One of the main reasons I took the leap into Lady May was my daughter so I've made it a goal to not forget about keeping a healthy work-life balance! When was the last time you took a moment for yourself?
