17.01.2022 Today we welcomed 500 hens to the farm! Getting a new flock is always exciting with some hard work involved - just imagine Katie out on dusk chasing chickens around to ensure they roost in the caravan Prior to the arrival of the hens, we have to move the old flock to the top paddock and transfer them to their new caravan, pressure clean the caravan and then set up water, feeders and the caravan ready for the new girls. During this time, we also do any repairs necessary ...(fixing paddock fencing, fixing the fencing around the bottom of the caravan etc). If an egg is found to have any defects, it is removed from the grade and discarded. Part of the grading, is sizing the eggs. This is done automatically by the egg grader we have.
