Wed never heard of it either until we bought our little @hold_cottage in Gunning and discovered the Southern Tablelands region. Situated about 40 minutes from Gunning and 1.5 hours from Canberra, this country drive is very much worth getting in the car for. The roads take you through small country towns, over rolling hills and tree lined corridors . These road tr...ips always ground me. Theres no avoiding our land and the utter desperation of this drought. I dont even think the words heart breaking come close. The suffering is gut wrenching. But when you drive into these small towns, the glimmer of hope and strength overwhelms you. These country folk, theyve done drought, flood and fire. They know it will rain again, the water will run off and the fires will burn out. They are the most resilient and optimistic people you will ever meet. Even through years of relentless heart break, loss of income and their livelihood, theyll always welcome you. And Laggan was no exception. But walking into @lagganbrewingco removed you from the intensity of the drought with their treelined driveway and lush garden. A little hidden sanctuary . The brewery that is situated in the old shearing shed on the property is only new and has 6 beers, an apple and blackcurrant cider and an alcoholic lemonade on tap. The smoked trout and beer platters were like nothing weve ever had before and the freedom to stroll around the garden was bliss. We honestly feel like we have discovered a hidden gem and although its tempting to keep it a secret, we actually want everyone to know about @lagganbrewingco and @lagganpantry because we want everyone to feel the way we did when we drove away.
