18.01.2022 Valentines day story. We decided to do a little research into where valentines day began. For those who believe valentines day is about ‘only’ red hearts and roses - you may want to stop reading now, but for the rest of you >> here we go. So the way we interpreted history is as follows. There was this emperor dude. He ran the show. He believed men fought better at war if they didn’t have a wife/family to come home to. (Lets just say he wanted men to just play the field.) So... he made a law/rule that forbidden young people of marrying. The Christian church weren’t down with this as they have their beliefs of marriage being sacred between ONE man and woman. (etc etc we don’t need to go into this) BUT that brings us to a BIT OF A PICKEL. So the church came together to discuss their plan of attack. There was one priest who (we guess you could say) was passionate about ‘hooking up’ young christian people within the church. If the valentine dude believed a young couple could last the test of time, through the good and the bad. Who could maintain commitment and not be surprised if initial ‘gushy love’ changed to something not so ‘gushy’, yet more mature. He would marry them IN SECRET - behind the emperors back even if they fell into this ‘young people’ category. SO in short - VALENTINE = BAD ASS. Plus this could be one of the first documented cases, in history of STICKING IT TO THE MAN. Like many rebels, he was eventually caught. He was thrown in jail and tortured for not following bossman’s rules. In 269 AD, valentine was sentenced to a 3 part execution of beating, stoning and finally decapitation. ALL because he believed in letting people LOVE So today we wont be wishing you a ‘happy vanetines day’. Instead here’s to those who believe love can conquer, to those who fight for what they believe in For those rule breakers, to those who love regardless of ‘the man’ and the ‘rules’. To Love of all kinds - the love that is wrong and also the love that is right. As you wouldn’t know that its right if you didn’t experience the wrong. To love thats not about one particular day. TO A LOVE THAT IS SHARED EVERYDAY.. But to the two people that have showed L&K that THIS (and) anything is possible. Today we thank you. It isn’t until you get older that you realise what TRUE super heroes are and hope one day you can love half as much as they. Cape flapping and all. Ours = The Parents. Happy LOVE day to you two.
