25.01.2022 Ok lets all remain calm..I clearly wont be sleeping much to try & get as many masks out as possible by Sunday. I will contact you as soon as your order is ready. Please understand I cant humanly get to everyone who has already ordered in time for Sunday but I am doing my absolute best & have all my family on board helping me as much as they can. 25.01.2022 Congratulations to all the winners of @flemingtonvrc Just for Fun categories that were just announced today. We had a great time dressing up & I certainly learnt a few things. Firstly Fashions on the Field is bloody hard! It’s not just a matter of throwing on a dress & a headpiece. The time & detail that goes into each outfit is incredible & I certainly now have a much greater appreciation & understanding of this! Planning for four people is even harder. Trying to get a co...hesive look while not being too matchy matchy is difficult. Choosing fabrics, styles, accessories, shoes, headware...the list is endless! So big props to everyone that puts themselves out there & enters a fotf event, whether it’s online, a small country meet or a huge event like Flemington. You all deserve a big round of applause! 24.01.2022 Face masks update. By now I should have made contact with everyone whos orders will be ready tomorrow & then mid-late next week. Its getting to the point where you cant be too picky on colours. The more flexible you are-the quicker youll get your order! Thankyou to those who are happy to wait. 22.01.2022 Finally something to celebrate today-from 23rd November wedding limits in Victoria will increase to 100 guests! (Providing everything goes to plan). After the latest announcement this morning about mandatory masks to be worn in the Melb lockdown areas, Im prioritising Melb clients who have ALREADY ordered. 22.01.2022 Finally got to my last bulk order-my Dads business Pro Alarms! He had to wait a while & doesnt like the colour much but I think the mottled look is quite stylish for some tradies! Weve trialed some different elastic too-half the order will go around the head instead of the ears. Will wait for the review!

21.01.2022 How to wear your mask. Theres one simple trick that will make my masks sit better on your face. Gather the elastic slightly! Your mask arrives flat, by gathering the elastic youll get a better fit on your face. See pics for an example. Flat, without gather, with gather.

20.01.2022 A non face mask post for a change. Unfortunately with stage 3 restriction re implemented from midnight Wed, I can no longer have any client fittings, as this is not an essential reason for leaving home. The entire wedding industry is feeling so sad & uncertain for our brides & grooms. With no dancing & interaction allowed for the unseeable future-who knows what the weddings of the future hold. If face masks are still required until the end of the year they must be worn by the couple, their bridal party & anyone attending. No one wants that. Lets hope everyone can do the right thing & we can get back to beautiful weddings & events soon & without restrictions.

18.01.2022 Update on my business reopening. As per Government & DHHS advice. I have been on the phone most of the morning with Business Victoria & another local dressmaker. ... Our situation is unique apparently & we dont currently fit into any boxes, as we are sole trading dressmakers operating from our homes. The official advice given is that we can proceed with caution. So in light of this I have the following good news. I can reopen from Monday 14th September for client fittings. However the following strict guidelines will be in place as I am operating from my home so please be respectful of this. *Essential appointments only. I will be prioritising clients based on their occasion date. *Existing clients only -any new booking will be by phone or messaging only for the time being. *Masks must be worn for duration of appointment. *Hand sanitizer available on arrival. *Maximum of two people per appointment. *No bathroom available for use. *If you are unwell (or anyone in your household) please reschedule. *Only local clients permitted from Greater Geelong region at this stage. *Appointments will be spaced to allow time for cleaning in between. *These terms are subject to change at anytime. Geelong will be in Stage 3, Step two on the 14th. Once we move to Stage 3, Step three, restrictions will be reassessed. Thankyou!

18.01.2022 Well I think its safe to say I have finally caught up on all my orders! (A few being collected & posted this weekend) For anyone who Ive contacted & hasnt got back to me-your order will be cancelled. I completely understand that people have sourced masks elsewhere & thats fine. ... 16.01.2022 Amber & Scott. Married Fri 8th January at Mt Duneed Estate. I can’t tell you how excited I was to be a part of this wedding & to see it all come together after this beautiful couple rescheduled from November 2020. Amber’s gown was made from whisper pink silk satin, blush sparkle tulle & two types of lace perfectly blended together to create her ‘fitted boho gown’ brief. We started late-later than I’d normally like after not being able to get to the lace shop any earlier t...han November due to Covid closures. And no sorry I do not have time to make these but I can give you a piece of elastic & some buttons with your Childrens masks purchase. (Not my mask or child haha but permission to share)

13.01.2022 EDIT-Please note there is a minimum one week wait on masks due to extremely high demand. I am prioritising doctors, nurses & health care workers. Thanks for your patience & understanding. Certainly not a direction I thought Id be heading. But Im now taking orders for face masks. Cotton outer & a muslin & cotton lining. Pocket for an additional filter if needed, a metal nose piece & elastic loops to ensure exact fit. Ive spent the morning working on the pattern after co...nsulting with several nurses. If youre going to wear a mask it needs to fit well. Large, medium & small available in black, pale pink & assorted pretty florals. (The medium fits me) $14ea. 3-5 day turn around at the moment. Before Covid, Tee had booked me in to make her bridal gown-unfortunately with the year that was, multiple date changes & fabric stores operating online only & fittings not allowed that ended up not possible. But I was thrilled to still be involved in this stunning wedding by altering the pink bridesmaids dresses. Each girl put their own twist on them & what a result! ... Also a huge thanks to my wonderful Aunty Trudy in Brisbane who has raided her local spotlight for me & has some new darker fabrics & prints on the way! 12.01.2022 Well after todays announcements I still have no idea where I stand. Ive put myself in the beauty category due to the closeness required for fittings & the impossibility of social distancing in my small studio. If thats the case it seems I cant have clients until at least 23rd Nov. This is also the proposed date when weddings numbers can hopefully increase to 50. Im in limbo along with every bride, groom & every wedding vendor. All I do know is with mask wearing... compulsory for the foreseeable future...that does not make for a nice wedding . 07.01.2022 2020 brings some new Terms & Conditions to Lainie Brookman Couture. BOOKING DEPOSITS A booking deposit is now required to lock in your date. ... Bridal gowns made to measure $200 Bridal gown alterations $100 Bridesmaids, evening wear, mother of the bride made to measure $50 Racewear/Fashions on the field $50 per outfit The deposit comes off the total cost of your garment, but is non refundable if you change your mind with less than 90 days notice. PAYMENTS Quotes will be provided upon initial consultation & a 50% deposit is required at the calico fit with balance due by/at pick up. Im more than happy to arrange payment plans, providing the balance is paid by pick up. I have been lenient in the past letting some clients take garments before full payment, but Ill no longer be allowing this. CHANGES POLICY I have always been very lenient with clients making changes during making & Ill always strive to ensure client satisfaction! However any significant changes made to the initial design during production could incur additional costs to the original quote. For example, if more fabric is required & more hours needed for adjustments. This will be discussed during your consultation. These t&cs have been put in place to secure your place & to maintain transparency throughout your made to measure experience. Any questions or queries I am more than happy to answer! 02.01.2022 Been having a play today with an Xsmall sized mask. Ive found the smalls are too big for younger children (aged 4-7). They wont have a nose piece because theres not enough room for one, but still have 3 layers & a pocket for an additional filter if required. Theyll be $12ea as opposed to all the other sizes at $14ea. If youve previously ordered a small & its too big for your child, let me know & Ill get you to try this size. Please note under current guidelines children under 12 are not required to wear masks. These are to be used under parent supervision & discretion. New orders are still being taken however there is still a minimum 2 week wait. Thankyou.

01.01.2022 One year ago today. Myer fotf Tassie State finals where Peta came Runner Up. She then went on to win the NSW state final & come RU in the National final. 2020 was going to be massive for me. I had a huge number of clients to create for & was so excited for the possibilities. But as we know Covid has taken that away. Nothing we can do but move forward & look towards a huge (hopefully) 2021 fotf season!
