09.01.2022 This month is Breast cancer awareness month. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women with 20,000 new cases diagnosed in Australia each year an...d second most common cause of cancer related deaths in women with over 3,100 deaths per year. This month presents us with an opportunity to focus on the importance of being ‘breast aware’, understanding the risk factors to help detect and treat, and shining a light on important research for the future. Our newly established Breast cancer project needs patient samples for research. Institute partner, Lake Imaging is a crucial part of the process in obtaining samples for research. Breast tissue samples are collected in biopsies, guided by ultrasound at both diagnosis and in treatment. These samples can be only collected from patients have already given consent to donate to research. The process is not an additional procedure and is done using samples collected for pathology. Samples are then stored in liquid nitrogen in the FECRI’s tissue bank to be used later. Only through research, better treatments can be found. 07.01.2022 Libby Coker MP and Dr. Behdin Abed, Consultant Radiologist, Lake Imaging, viewing the latest addition to Lake Imaging’s state of the art imaging technology at the St John of God Hospital in Geelong. The new Canon AquilionTM ONE Genesis CT Scanner, can obtain an image of your whole heart in one beat or 0.4 seconds. Installed in October 2019, this CT was the final piece in Lake Imaging’s $7.5M upgrade of their clinic at the Hospital. The Scanner is revolutionising CT Imaging in Geelong and the experience of patients that attend the St John of God Emergency Department.

02.01.2022 As an Australian/NZ business operating in many regional communities, we are heartbroken over the devastating impact the bushfires are having on individuals, communities, and wildlife around Australia. As part of our initial support, Integral Diagnostics has contributed to the Australian Red Cross bushfire disaster relief and recovery fund. These funds will directly help the many communities affected by assisting those in relief and evacuation centres, to develop longer-term r...ecovery programs and to provide psychological first aid to reduce trauma. In addition, Integral Diagnostics will be providing bulk billing services for chest x-rays and CT scans for those affected by the bushfires. Further donations will also be made to Australia Zoo and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Hospital, located in southeast Queensland who are assisting to treat the many sick and injured wildlife patients admitted from both Queensland and those evacuated from southern states. This fire season has been a tragedy for millions of Australians.
