25.01.2022 Lake Kurwongbah Water Ski Zone has the pleasure in announcing our first Come & Try day for 2020/2021 season, scheduled for Sunday 22nd November 2020. Attached is your official invite which now includes specific details with regard to COVID 19, and this running as a COVID 19 safe event. In line with the above and to comply with the Covid safe plan, minor changes have been made with regard to RSVP,s and registration/sign in on the day. Below is an over view of these changes.... RSVP,s - https://www.trybooking.com/BMKSW All RSVP,s must be received via the Try Booking link above, which is also listed on the invite. Unfortunately email RSVP,s and RSVP,s on the day will not be accepted. COVID QR code registration and sign in. Upon arrival at the main gate each person who is on the RSVP list will be required to register via the LKWSZ QR code (Covid contact tracing requirement) This is a simple process which is accessed via your mobile phone and takes approx. 60sec to complete. Once inside the event each guest will then be required to sign in at the main sun shade for insurance purposes. Once signed in a LKWSZ member will provide each guest with a wrist band. Rest assured plenty of help will be available on the day from LKWSZ members in order to assist with the above registration and sign in process. 24.01.2022 Today the Lake Kurwongbah Water Skiing Community are having their biannual Charity day for Make A Wish, Sporting Wheelies, Legacy and Variety. This is the day ...when the club not only helps to fundraise for these great charities but gives the sporting wheelies a chance to have a run behind a boat. The club also has Come and Try days for the general public to come and have a ski, which I also promote here. Thanks to Kedron Wavell RSL for providing lunch for all. See more

23.01.2022 Years of training paid off! The New World Barefoot Waterski Endurance Record is Now 3 Hours 4 minutes & 40 seconds covering about 114 Miles! A Huge Thank You to... BF3 Wayne King Driving, Marc Donahue Fueling (7) Five-six gallon containers on the fly, & Ronald Coonse Video -authenticating witness in a 22 yr old 1996 Inboard Malibu Tantrum! We Started @ 7:40 am on Lake Weir with 45 Degrees temps on Friday November 30 2018. 14 year old Billy Nichols held the untouchable Record of 2:43 min & 19 seconds for just over 40 Years on the same lake and We Exceeded the Record by 21 Minutes & 21 Seconds! 17.01.2022 Lake Kurwongbah Water Ski Zone is excited to announce that we have come to an agreement with SEQ Water regarding the use of Lake Kurwongbah for water skiing purposes. The club has worked together with SEQ Water on how to best utilise Lake Kurwongbah in a safe, responsible manner. We are also excited to announce the launch of the LKWSZ web page which will continue to be developed over time. 12.01.2022 There are TWO events on the lake this weekend. SATURDAY - Waterski QLD are running a Come & Try Day that is specific to slalom skiing through the course (see below for details). This event is held at Mick Hanfling Park. RSVP to Ben 0400738346 SUNDAY - LKWSZ are running a Come & Try Day for general skiing (and slalom). 12.01.2022 Hi everyone. Apologies for being off-line for a while. Like everyone else, Covid has affected us too with the day to day running of the Club. However, we are pleased to announce that the new calendar is now up on the website and we're looking forward to another busy season! Waterski Qld, Wakeboard Qld and Barefoot Qld are running comps on the lake. Mick Hanfling Park is a fantastic spectator area for these events. If you wish to compete, feel free to contact any of the clubs ...for details. The end of this month we will be running our Charity Ski Day for Make-A-Wish, Sporting Wheelies, Legacy and Variety. We now have an additional email address for events... [email protected] (general enquiries is still [email protected]). Events will now be run differently due to Covid rules to include online RSVPing and Check In and Sign In at the event area. Keep an eye out for the invitations for each event. 09.01.2022 Afternoon all, Most of you should now be aware that the Bureau of Meteorology has issued an amber flood alert for South East Queensland. With the potential for minor to major flooding we are canceling this weekends planned Come and Try. Even if we see only minor dam level increase Seqwater will likely need to close the lake to Primary contact users for water quality and health reasons. ... We will be in touch with a new date ASAP. Apologies to all but we can’t do much about a cyclone. If Oma does come this way please ensure you and your families take the necessary precautions. Regards, The LK Community

04.01.2022 Lake Kurwongbah update... 7 days a week skiing is coming back!! We will continue to share the lake with paddlecraft but possibly with zoning. ... The workings of this new arrangement are not yet finalised and as such we will work closely with Seqwater, Wakeboard Qld, Waterski Qld, & Queensland Barefoot to allow the continued use of the Tournament area which has become popular ( as it should being one of the premier tournament ski sites in Australia) for local and state events. Who wouldn't love to see a nationals on LK! The dam wall and spillway will be repaired and full water level planned for about 2019/2020. So many things to be discussed but it's small steps in the right direction. Also, free unrestricted paddling will be allowed on Lake Samsonvale after a suitable site for a launch area is located and built. More updates will follow as the process moves along & we thank the many individuals who have fought so hard to maintain access to Lake Kurwongbah, including Local MPs Nikki Boyd & Shane King. 03.01.2022 Somerset Dam WALL WALK WEEKEND In conjunction with Seqwater we are excited to inform you of the WALL WALK WEEKEND extravaganza!!! 24th & 25th of August. The Da...m wall will be open to the public. Walk over the top or walk through the body of the wall. Tour times to be advised by Seqwater. 02.01.2022 Seqwater advised late this afternoon that the lake had passed the water tests and was safe to reopen. With this late notice we will not be running the event. Everyone that rsvp’d has been notified of the cancellation. We hope you can join us for the next Come and Try scheduled for the 26th April. In the meantime, we will keep you up to date with other events on the lake.
