24.01.2022 Bit of a busy 24 hrs for us. First at 2315 we were called to a structure fire on Inglewood Rd along with #firerescue472, #firerescue480 and #foresthillrfb. On arrival a garage and shed with a vehicle inside were well alight. The shed and contents were completely destroyed. Then at 0530, we were called to the Gregadoo Waste Managment Centre for a fire. Both were demend safe and handed over to the owners/Managment.

11.01.2022 Fact: There will never be as many fire trucks as there are houses. Do not depend on a fire truck being available at your home. But if you and your home are well prepared, you stand a better chance of surviving a bush fire. There are simple things you can do around your... home to prepare it for a bush fire, like keeping the grass low and having a cleared area around your home. 05.01.2022 Fire Bucket or Pits Tips Can I have a fire bucket or pit in the backyard? With the cooler weather here and social restrictions in force, seems like everyone is enjoying sitting around a fire bucket and relaxing in this crazy times. Us too! ... Under council regulations you are permitted to have a small fire for recreational and / or cooking purposes. Here’s a few simple tips to ensure we don’t gate crash your next fire bucket session 1. Position your bucket or pit away from flammable materials, especially structures 2. Make sure you have an adequate water supply and responsible adult nearby 3. Only burn clean, dry timber such as firewood. Pallets are generally treated and the chemicals used aren’t nice to anyone’s health. Cancer sucks! 4. Minimise smoke production and check that any smoke isn’t going drift across the neighbours washing and give them a friendly heads up so they don’t mistake you fire for an unwanted one. Burning rubbish, building materials such as painted timber and green waste is NOT permitted and fines can apply if reported to Triple 0. #larfb #winteriscoming #firebucket #firepit #nswrfs #forourcommunity

04.01.2022 Changes coming to the way bush fires are displayed on the NSW RFS website and the Fires Near Me NSW app. From early December, yellow, orange and red icons will be used for Advice, Watch and Act, and Emergency Warning. While the icons change, the names of the alert levels and what they mean do not change.... These are part of national changes, and a number of states and territories are working towards the start of December to start using the new icons. The changes are designed to bring consistency to the way incidents are shown. More information is available on the NSW RFS website, including a video, explaining the change. 04.01.2022 Fact: Only 6.9% of NSW was impacted by bush fire in the 2019/20 fire season. This means there is a significant bush fire risk for the coming 2020/21 fire season. It only takes 5 minutes to improve or make a plan that will give your property,... your family and yourself the best chance of survival. Get ready now at myfireplan.com.au #getreadyweekend See more

01.01.2022 As we rug-up against cold and wet conditions in Wagga and surrounds, it's hard to imagine facing blistering heatwaves and a statewide declaration of emergency, just like we had earlier this year, amidst 20+ going wildfires and steadily worsening weather - and all this in the middle of a pandemic. Sadly, that's what Californians are facing right now, and the life of a water-bombing helicopter pilot has already been lost. We're not quite sure yet what the NSW bushfire season w...ill bring, but with fires starting up north of the state already, one thing is 100% certain - it's never too early to start preparing. With Spring just around the corner it's definitely time to get organised. Check out NSW RFS Fireplan to find out what you can start doing now to get ready visit the website www.rfs.nsw.gov.au https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/resources/bush-fire-survival-plan Make sure you've got the Get Ready Weekend community events on the 19-20th of September saved in your calender. Our Get Ready Weekend will be on the 19th of September at 9am at the Lake Village Shopping Centre. Come on down and have a chat about anything to do with your Fire Plan or the last season. May the dedicated CAL FIRE crews and all those working with them have the support and resources they need at this challenging time, and may the pilot who paid the ultimate price in service to their community Rest in Peace.
