22.01.2022 South Australia has missed an opportunity by delaying opening its border until after the July school holidays.

19.01.2022 Next Tuesday-Wednesday it may piss down over the Lake...

18.01.2022 With these high rainfall short duration events we have been seeing lately the stream gauges have shown some incredible flash flooding. Hope no one was camped at Algebuckina yesterday. 0 to 7+m in a few hours!

16.01.2022 As it is highly likely that pubs, restaurants and entertainment venues will soon be forced to close and non-essential interstate travel banned the Clubhouse will not be open this coming school holiday period. Unfortunately the Commodore will remain in cold, wet and miserable Melbourne for the foreseeable future - dreaming of the Marrean sunshine. Wishing all our friends the best. Take care.

15.01.2022 * ABOVE AVERAGE SPRING RAINFALL PREDICTED FOR MUCH OF EASTERN AUSTRALIA * At the present we have sea surface temperature (SST) patterns around Australia that ca...n promote above average rainfall for many inland areas during spring. Over the tropical Pacific Ocean this pattern is close to what is called La Nina and for the tropical Indian Ocean we are experiencing a negative Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD). Both of these SST patterns have a history of generating above average rainfall for inland Australia during spring. The recent Bureau of Meteorology analysis of the situation noted: September to November is likely to be wetter than average across much of Australia, (greater than 60% chance in most areas, greater than 75% in much of the eastern half of the mainland). Chances of a drier than average spring are seen in south-west Tasmania (greater than 60% chance), and roughly equal chances of wetter or drier conditions across the west and north of WA For Victoria the indications are for above average rain over much of the State, more particularly the northern half. These longer-range rainfall predictions by the Bureau have become increasingly accurate over the last decade or so and are well worth watching. 11.01.2022 It has happened again! Is this true or is their something wrong with the Algebuckina stream gauge?

10.01.2022 Now taking orders

08.01.2022 The Diamantina flood reached Birdsville yesterday. Only 2m - very small flood at this stage.

07.01.2022 With all the current drama the Commodore nearly forgot that this April is the 20th Birthday of the Lake Eyre Yacht Club. I've put a few historical "sliders" on the home page lakeeyreyc.com to celebrate. (Note they won't work on mobiles or Macs.)

04.01.2022 * RAIN AND POSSIBLE STORMS FORECAST FOR MUCH OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN AUSTRALIA * Significant rain is predicted across much of central and eastern Australia, incl...uding Victoria, over the next ten days. Victoria is expecting significant falls during this time with widespread totals of 20/30 mm in southern areas and heavier falls in the North East. Much of the South Australian, Queensland and NSW rain is expected to come from a slow moving inland trough tracking across the area from Thursday to Saturday. Another trough is then predicted to move through on Monday and Tuesday producing most of the rain for Victoria. Image: The image shows the predicted accumulated rainfall across Victoria, NSW, Queensland and South Australia from 10.00 pm Sunday 13th September to 10.00 pm on Wednesday 23rd September. This is derived from the ECMWF model as processed by Weather Zone. - Dick Whitaker, Meteorologist -

04.01.2022 Birdsvilles had 5 inches. My how quickly things change. A good lower Diamantina flood probable. Warburton flood April and some water in the lake late April.
