17.01.2022 The pool is the perfect place to start exercising if you are in pain, have suffered an injury or had recent surgery requiring graduated weight bearing. It is also a great place to work on balance for falls prevention as balance can be challenged without the risk of falling. We offer hydrotherapy classes across the road from the clinic at Kirby Swim Karrinyup. For more information and pricing please visit our website: https://lakegwelupphysio.com.au/

15.01.2022 Something we get frequently in clinic and someone concerned with a noisy knee joint. Approximately 25% of the population will experience crepitation’s/clicking of the knee at some point in their life. Unless the noise is associated with pain, it is rarely an issue. Crepitus or knee cracking is quite normal in healthy individuals and is rarely linked to the development of pathology/damage of the knee. Negative beliefs and concerns that the knee joint will be damaged can lead to heightened anxiety and fear, often leading to avoidance of movements that are important to function and health of the knee such as squatting, climbing stairs and running.

14.01.2022 A reminder to our gym-based rehab patients. Anytime Fitness Stirling will undergo a makeover from next Tuesday the 26th of November and will be closed for 2 weeks. If all goes to plan normal gym-based rehab sessions will resume from the 11th of December. If you have any questions please feel free to get in contact with us.

13.01.2022 For those of you involved in sport, one of the best ways to minimise your chance of injury is strength training. There is strong evidence to suggest regular strength training is far superior to pre and post game stretching in injury prevention.

10.01.2022 **WE’RE BACK** We are now providing in-person face to face consultations. Given WA has no recent evidence of community transmission we feel it is now appropriate to provide in-person consultations. All bookings for in-person face to face consultations can be made the usual ways either online at https://lakegwelupphysio.com.au/ or by phoning the practice on 9244 8588. Telehealth consultations will still be an option for those who prefer. These bookings will now need to be ma...de by phoning the practice or emailing me directly at [email protected]. If you are interested in the safety measures we have put in place to ensure a safe environment for your appointments please take a look at our COVID-19 safety measures section on our website: https://lakegwelupphysio.com.au/covid-19-response/ Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

07.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE Lake Gwelup Physiotherapy is making the transition to online consultations and exercise classes for the health and safety of all. Face to face consults will cease after this Tuesday the 24th of March for the foreseeable future. It is necessary to acknowledge that the COVID-19 situation in Australia is escalating. I feel this decision, whilst extremely difficult, is for the greater good of the community and to help protect those most vulnerable. As physiotherap...ists we see patients of wide-ranging ages and health status. You can appreciate it is difficult for us to keep a healthy physical distance from our patients during face to face consultations. Without adequate personal protective equipment there is some element of risk. We all have a role to play in controlling the spread of the virus. I take the responsibility I have as a health professional to keep my patients safe seriously. As has been the case recently, we will maintain our strict hygiene measures, including wearing face masks and gloves for the remaining face to face consultations. Our online and telephone consultations will be available from Monday the 30th of March. Whilst I understand the idea of online or phone consultations may be new for most, the vast majority of musculoskeletal problems can be managed effectively and more importantly safely without the need for physical contact. We will be providing further information about our online consultations on our website and facebook page later in the week. I will take any downtime as an opportunity for self-improvement, undertaking further study and continued education so when we do return to normal, you can continue to trust you are receiving the best care. Thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions please contact me directly at [email protected]. Stay safe and keep healthy! Regards, Chris Warne
