25.01.2022 We are open for take-aways today (22 April) - 10 til 2 - Soups: Pear & Parsnip with a hint of curry & Auntie Marys Sweet Potato, Pumpkin & Carrot. Burgers, Anchovie Pasta, Scones, Chocolate Brownies and a Ginger Loaf. Cheers Lois.

25.01.2022 At Lake Purrumbete reports the fishing has been similar to the previous week with the biggest trout, a brown weighing 4.6kg, the highlight. Most rainbow, brown and brook are about 1.5kg with mudeye under a bubble float and hard-body lures the best methods. Lake Bullen Merri is also fishing well for Chinook salmon to 3.5kg with pilchard and glassie baits the best. via: https://goo.gl/Vc6tPk

22.01.2022 Lake Purrumbete continues to produce trophy-sized brown trout up to 4.5kg. ..Apart from the trophy-size trout, most of the trout, including rainbow and brook trout, are averaging about 1.5kg. Methods used include casting and trolling lures, and fishing with mudeyes and Powerbait. Redfin to 1kg are also being caught on minnow and scrubworm. http://alturl.com/p6fy7

20.01.2022 Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 lockdown we are closed. We will open to offer Take-Aways - Check our FB page for details. Feeling sh..t putting off staff and ...canceling: Peter the milkman; bread from Rebbeca at loaf and lounge; chicken from Tony Don; cheese from Julian; eggs from Caravan eggs; Lemon Merangue cake from Kristy; skip hire and drinks from Sl reps; PFD reps; Alf the lawn mower man and Ros who cleaned the cottages. You suddenly realise how many people involved in my little cafe... I am going to miss the team I work with and my customers so much. My heart goes out to every business owner and the decisions they are now making. On the bright side, Tony has suggested a day on the saw bench if I want to fire through the day, Jeremy has suggested I return to cleaning out troughs which I used to do so well (his words) ....... Im not sure if I like getting dirty after more than 5 years in the cafe, a warm sunny environment, savouring the aroma of Vietnam braised beef, scones and Moroccan lamb. The idea of splinters and cow shit isnt doing it for me just yet. Looking forward to the day we re-open and truly wish a healthy and safe time for all of my customers, friends and their families. 08.01.2022 Closed for 2 weeks. Coffee time !We have all reached for the bottle today trying to make a decision on what to do. So sorry ,but We have decided to CLOSE Lake... Edge Cafe for 2 weeks as we are out of grog starting WED - 5 AUGUST. We Will then re assess but in this time we will be working very hard on a remedy for COVID hangover. 08.01.2022 Open again! We are really excited to be getting back to normal. Opening hours are Wednesday to Saturday - 10am til 3pm. Limited to about 10 inside and 15 under...cover outside. BOOKINGS would be a great help - please call as we dont always see messages in time. (Text/Phone Lois on 0419 591 660 SHORTER STAYS will help others come in from the cold. 03.01.2022 Trophy-sized brown trout to 4.5kg continue to be caught in Lake Purrumbete in the Western District ... As well as the big browns, smaller brown, rainbow and brook trout to 1.5kg are being caught. The best method for the big trout is spinning with bibbed minnow lures.
