08.01.2022 Everyone Id like to introduce you to a special little man who happens to also be my nephew Ollie Ollie at just 3 weeks old was sadly diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. Ollie has just had his first tune up at the RCH in Melbourne, where he was admitted for 14 days. They put him under a general anaesthetic and inserted a CVC to administer his antibiotics and to see if any nasty bacteria was growing in his lungs. The Nurses, Dr and every single staff member were incredible the whol...e time we were there. Ollie is also Pancreatic Insufficient, this means that his pancreas does not absorb all of the fats & nutrients which results in slow weight and growth. With every feed he has to have a medication called Creon which helps his pancreas. The RCH have provided Ollie with an ongoing medical team at the Royal children’s hospital have been absolutely fantastic. Ollie sees a Respiratory Dr, Cystic Fibrosis nurse, Physio, Dietician, and a Social worker. We can not thank them enough for everything they do. Ollie’s future is filled with multiple hospital admissions, daily medication & he could potentially need a lung transplant in the future. With the ongoing research & new medications coming to Australia Ollies parents Peter & Mel (my sister) hold out hope that one day a cure will be found for Ollie and all that suffer with Cystic Fibrosis. This year I will be raffling this jar of eggs and all the proceeds will be donated to the RCH Good Friday Appeal. It will be $2 a ticket or 3 for $5.
