12.01.2022 Overcoming Dental Anxiety: If you get nervous before visiting us, practice breathing calmly to help calm any nerves that may be present. As your dentist, we strive to make you as comfortable as possible during your treatments. However, we know that for some, visiting our practice isnt their favourite thing in the world. Dont worrywe dont take it personally! We understand that dental anxiety is a real thing, and wed like to offer our patients a few tips to help your next ...visit with us go as smoothly as possible. Relaxation Techniques: If you find yourself frequently nerved-up before a visit, try these simple and easy relaxation techniques. 1. Ask us questions. This will allow us to address all of your concerns before beginning care. This way, youll feel more at ease and know exactly what to expect. If it helps, we can also talk you through the process and whats going on at each moment of treatment. 2. Listen to music. Feel free to bring headphones to plug into your phone so that you can listen to your favourite bands during your visit. This often helps patients relax and can distract from the sound of dental tools in your mouth. 3. Bring something to hold. For children, this can be a teddy bear to cuddle during treatment. For adults, a stress ball can help you cope during care. Are you ready to experience dental care thats calm, caring and relaxing? Contact our practice today to make your appointment.
11.01.2022 Very Interesting... can anyone relate?
10.01.2022 A dental Abscess or tooth abscess (toothache) usually occurs as a result of an untreated dental cavity or injury where an infection causes an abscess at the tip of the root. Your dentist will treat this with either a root canal; or if you dont want to save the tooth an extraction would be needed. Leaving this untreated can lead to life threatening complications! If you are suffering, dont, call us today (08 9417 9779) and see what your options are, the sooner you take action the better the chances and the less expensive the treatment will be.
10.01.2022 Your first visit with us will involve a thorough consultation. During this time your dentist will perform a full general check-up and take a thorough case history to fully assess your treatment needs. During your first visit, you can expect your dentist to:... *Obtain your dental history with your consent and signed form *Perform a comprehensive dental check-up or examination *Take any necessary X-rays needed

07.01.2022 ***Food for ThoughtAnd Your Teeth! Is your diet tooth-friendly morning, noon and night? Try to incorporate these foods into your breakfast, lunch and dinner for a healthy mouth around the clock. 1. Breakfast: Opt for a fruit high in malic acid, like strawberries, to jump-start your day. Malic acid is gentle but effective in removing surface stains from coffee and soda. 2. Lunch: Reach for a crunchy salad complete with celery and basil. Celery is helpful when it comes to clea...ning teeth while basil has been known to kill bacteria causing bad breath. 3. Dinner: Try cooking with coconut oil to combat tooth decay. Love mushrooms? They make the perfect pairing for poultry and are packed full of vitamin D, which is helpful in absorbing calcium. ***Chew On This, Not That Often find yourself reaching for a stick of gum to freshen your breath during the middle of your day? Whether its a regular habit or something you only opt for every now and then, here are a few reasons to consider making the switch to sugar-free gum. *Its better for your teeth. Sugar-free gum wont leave a coating of sucrose on your teeth that can lead to plaque buildup and bacteria, lowering your risk of cavities. *Like regular gum, sugar-free gum can also enhance your breath if youre dealing with halitosis, also known as bad breath. *Sugar-free gum stimulates saliva flow. If youre dealing with a dry mouth, consider picking up a pack of sugar-free gum to increase saliva flow in your mouth. **Wondering what other easy fixes you can make to improve the health of your teeth? Ask us at your next appointment. Regards LDC
06.01.2022 Dental Care for Seniors: Keeping our teeth healthy as we age is as important as ever. Considering these 5 issues; which can have a huge impact on your teeth and health. 1. Dry Mouth As our age increases so can some of the medications we take, some of which can cause dry mouth and can increase your risk of oral cancers.... 2. Wear and Tear Like bones your teeth can become brittle as we all start to age. 3. Root Decay Our Gums will recede over time, leaving our roots exposed and open to decay. Continue to brush floss and mouth rinse twice daily to help with the tartar buildup that can build up near those roots. 4. Smoking Avoid smoking and chewing tobacco to help keep your mouth healthy. This will also help with those stains we notice that can buildup overtime. 5. Gum Disease Older individuals may be more susceptible to gum disease and oral cancers if not screened properly Call us today 9417 9779 to book your appointment. Regards LDC
05.01.2022 Why Our Molars Matter Have you ever wondered why you need so many teeth? With four different types in your mouth, and each serves a purpose to help you: bite, chew and speak!... We all have 12 molars in our mouththree in the back on each side of your upper and lower jaws; They have a particularly broad and flat surface which helps you grind and chew food into small pieces that can then be easily broken down and therefore swallowed. Aside from offering support in our eating and chewing regime, our molars also play a key role in maintaining a persons facial structure- If it werent for our molars, our cheeks would appear sunken and our faces may seem withdrawn. .. Neglecting your teeth can lead to oral health issues as well as overall health problems that go far beyond cosmetics! If you have trouble reaching your back teeth to and are finding it quite difficult to keep that area clean, try opting for a toothbrush with a smaller head or one specifically designed for hard-to-reach areas. Keep your molars and mouth healthy by maintaining your regularly scheduled visits to our practice. If youre due for a clean or examination, give us a call today to book an appointment.

02.01.2022 ***Baby teethies matter; Here at Lakes we sometimes get asked why baby teeth should be fixed or saved, when adult teeth will replace them later on anyway? It is important to save baby teeth to hold the space for the adult tooth to eventually come through. As the decay progresses, the tooth will develop an infection and in children, these infections can spread rapidly and become more dangerous for their health and their teeth.... As kids with more decay in their baby teeth are also at a higher risk of decay in their adult teeth later on in life. https://youtu.be/5WoPhxV8yCg
