09.01.2022 On the shore of Tinaroo Dam in Yungaburra, Queensland on the Atherton Tablelands, The Afghanistan Avenue of Honour is a living memorial dedicated to the memory ...of all who served in the fight against terror in Afghanistan and to those brave and selfless Australians who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of freedom and liberty. The Avenue follows the path of fallen Commando Ben Chuck’s Gun Carriage, July 1st 2010, and symbolises the ‘final journey home’ of the Fallen and preserves forever the gratitude and respect the nation bestows on all those to whom we owe a debt... that can never be repaid. A plaque representing each fallen soldier is placed on an ‘Honour Board’ in close proximity to the Memorial. The landscaped surrounds give visitors the opportunity to pause, reflect and to pay their respects. The Yungaburra Mark...et is the biggest and oldest market on the Atherton Tablelands. AND ONCE A MONTH local producers gather in the middle of the historic village of Yungaburra to sell fresh produce, flowers, home made crafts, local wines, wooden furniture, clothing FOOD GALORE and well.....just about anything else you can think of! I’m going to bake up a storm.....with some favourites.....like Snickers Bar.....BUT I’ve got some new tricks up my sleeve too!
