14.01.2022 Positive Parenting BC - Before Children, none of us really thinks of learning about parenting. AC - After children, who has the time?... So technically, we're doing the hardest job in the world - raising human beings - with little or no prior training, some hearsay knowledge and a lot of 'gut feeling'! Can you imagine a doctor or a plumber doing their job this way? No wonder most of us default to nagging and yelling so often. Feeling so lost and adrift. And unsure of what to do when faced with difficult situations. It's time to change that! Over a course of 8 days from Sep 22nd - 29th, 16 experts in parenting, neuroscience and psychology, with decades of research, clinical and personal experience are coming together to share tips, tricks and techniques that parents can start using right away to raise happy, well-adjusted kids. And the best part? It's FREE and fully online! ***************************************************************** The conference is completely FREE between Sep 22 - 29, 2020. We publish 4 new masterclasses every other day with a FREE bonus catch-up day in between. So, no matter where you are or how busy your schedule is, you should be able to fit these masterclasses in. So go ahead, watch them anytime, anywhere and in any timezone! To register, please click here https://afineparent.com/positive-parenting-conference

02.01.2022 Baz's Mullet for Mental Health From the BlackDog website: 1 in 5 of us will experience symptoms of mental illness in any given year. In Australia, that’s around 5 million people. And roughly 60% of these people won’t seek help.... As the only medical research institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the lifespan, our aim is to create a mentally healthier world for everyone. We do this through ‘translational’ research. Integrating our research studies, education programs, digital tools and apps, clinical services, and public resources to discover new solutions, foster connections and create real-world change. Our partnerships with people with lived experience, federal, state and local governments, communities, schools, corporate Australia and others in the mental health sector enables us to drive evidence-informed change in mental health where it’s needed most. From our resident mullet-man, Baz C "The reason I am doing this is because I have been passionate about mental health and suicide for many years. 8 people in Australia take their own life, and out of those, 6 are men. That number is simply too high. Suicide is real and depression is as well. People need to realise that they are never alone and they will always have people to talk to. It is never weak to speak. 1 in 5 people in Australia will experience depression, and to me that number is way too high. It's not just about a statistic. These are people with family and mates who love them. One of the biggest reasons that I am doing this is because on Christmas day 2018 I lost my grandfather and it opened my eyes, because I did feel very alone and I felt like I could not talk to anyone." I you would like to support this great cause and our very own Baz, Please use this link to donate: https://www.teamblackdog.org.au//ba/mulletsformentalhealth:

02.01.2022 Another gorgeous day in Lakeside. This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118.
