24.01.2022 We wish all our Year 12 students well for their written examinations at Lakeview Senior College. Tomorrow is the English and EAL Examination from 9:00am to 12:15pm. A reminder to Year 12 English students that you are REQUIRED to bring a dictionary to the examination. We do not supply dictionaries hence it's your responsibility to have your own. You cannot share a dictionary with another student and the dictionary must not contain a thesaurus.
24.01.2022 A massive congratulations to Tristan Xerri who will make his debut for the North Melbourne Football Club against Hawthorn tomorrow. Tristan becomes the third player from Lakeview's football academy to play AFL after Will Hoskin-Elliott at Collingwood and James Sicily at Hawthorn. We wish you all the very best & are so proud of you.
24.01.2022 The Lakeview Wellbeing Team would like to introduce... Simple ideas, tips and resources will be shared each Wednesday with the school community to promote self-care, coping & resilience.
23.01.2022 The Year 10 History classes worked on some creative skills last week. Students visually illustrate their knowledge of the period between WWI and WWII in Europe, to show their understanding of one aspect that they have learn t so far. The amount of dedication and effort placed into these pieces was fantastic and allow each student to select the creative skill they enjoyed. Pieces ranged from videos, propaganda advertisements, poems, letter and drawing just to name a few. Please find attached a selection of the great work these Year 10 History students produced. But well done to both Year 10 History classes! With this year being the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII, the students are also reflecting on the conditions of the war and the sacrifices men and women made around the world

17.01.2022 While many of you will be relieved by the announcement that we have moved back to remote learning to help improve the safety of our community, we know that many of you will also be feeling exceptionally nervous about this change to your routine. On Monday 3rd of August, Lakeview teachers wore a bit more colour than usual as a symbolic rainbow, to remind you that we are here to continue to bring light and brightness to your learning and lives. Rainbows are an inclusive symbol ...of hope and a reminder of our connectedness even in dark times. Your teachers will continue to be there for you in every way possible, we know that together, we can stay strong and find the courage needed to continue to grow and improve. We are so proud of the dedication and flexibility that you have all shown this year and we know that together we can continue to sparkle and shine.

15.01.2022 Celebrating our efforts at Lakeview Last week, the Lakeview Student Voice team put together a visual display of messages written by the cohort of students and teachers at Lakeview. These notes were written as notes of gratitude, support, and congratulations to each other of their experiences throughout the year. These small acts of kindness make a lasting difference in people’s lives - students and staff speaking about how this had given them the hope they needed. It was fantastic to read everyone’s messages, have a laugh at some, and see the sincerity and connection shine through with others.

13.01.2022 During the remote learning period, year 10 media students have been creating some fabulous media productions from home. Students had the choice to either develop promotional posters for their own movies; make a creative photographic record of their time in isolation. The work these students have been able to develop from home has been of a fantastically high quality and all the year 10 media students at Lakeview should be proud of their media skills, their creativity, and the...ir ability to think outside the square to produce this work without the equipment and tools they would usually have access to at school. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support across this challenging period of time. As previously communicated, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has confirmed that a student at Lakeview Senior College has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). Following advice from DHHS, Lakeview Senior College has been closed all week t...o allow time for the school and DHHS to undertake a full risk assessment. The closure has also allowed appropriate cleaning of the school site to occur on the recommendation of DHHS. This extensive clean will conclude today. As announced by the Premier on Wednesday, Year 11 and 12 students will be returning to face to face teaching next week. Year 12 VCE and VCAL students will commence classes at 9.00am on Monday 13th July as per their normal timetable. Year 11 VCE students will re-commence classes at 9.15am on Tuesday 14th July. Year 11 VCAL students will commence VET on Tuesday 14th July and VCAL classes at Lakeview on Wednesday 15th July at 9:15am. This will allow us to be properly prepared for both Year 11 & 12 cohorts to be onsite and to ensure the temperature testing of all students can be carried out in a manageable and timely manner. As per arrangements that applied upon the return to school at the end of term 2, Year 11 classes will continue to start at 9.15am and finish 15 minutes early at the end of the day. Year 10 students remain on holidays for all of next week as we await an announcement about a possible return to remote learning. Accelerated Students: Year 11 Accelerated students are expected to attend their year 12 classes on Monday the 13th of July. Year 10 Accelerated students are expected to attend their Year 11 classes from Tuesday 14th of July. These students will need to sign in at the front office and be temperature scanned by an Assistant Principal. It remains vitally important that students who are unwell DO NOT attend school under any circumstances. Any students who exhibit any signs of being unwell during the school day will be sent home immediately after parent contact has been made. As the current situation remains very fluid, we will continue to provide any updated advice and information as soon as we receive it. Kind Regards, Shayne Rule

04.01.2022 School footy CALL OUT.... Pic of (L-R): Michael Pisani AFL Program Coordinator and Lakeview Secondary students Nick; Stephanie; Riley and Tate. Photo by Damjan Janevski.209507_06 Purchase this photo from Star Photos: 209507... Ewen McRae The football program at Lakeview Senior College has seen three players drafted in recent years, and theyre looking for their next stars. The program has been running at the school since 2007, giving students the chance for extra training and physical conditioning sessions that work around their VCE or VCAL studies. With AFL players James Sicily, Will Hoskin-Elliot and recent draftee Tristan Xerri coming through the school, program coordinator Michael Pisani said it had been a long-term success for students. Theres lots of access to strength and conditioning through the local Anytime Fitness, and we have coaches that come in to work with the players as well, Mr Pisani said. Weve got an affiliation with the Western Jets as well, so it provides a great opportunity for players to access their program as well. Its all about helping players reach their full potential, whether thats AFL, Nab League, or their local clubs. Now at North Melbourne, Mr Xerri was full of praise for the program and the help it gave him to reach his AFL goal. The opportunity to touch a football 3-4 times a week at school on top of training and playing outside of school really helped me develop and fine tune my skills, especially my kicking, he said. There was a little extra motivation in my classes through my time at Lakeview because I knew if I didnt hand in my assignments in time that Id miss out on footy. Anyone who may be interested can email [email protected] throughout term 3. Ewen McRae

02.01.2022 Lakeview update 16/10 Dear parent/guardian/carer, Our Year 11 & 12 students have made a great return to onsite learning this week and our staff have been very excited to work with them in a much more traditional way. We are exceptionally proud of our students and the way they have handled the challenges of remote learning but staring at a computer screen for hour after hour is less than ideal. We are very much looking forward to our Year 10 cohort returning on Monday 26th O...ctober as they will be meeting their Semester 2 teachers face to face for the first time. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of our students across this period of time. Your patience, committment and care for them in an educational and wellbeing sense is very evident. It has not been easy but we have been able to work together in a partnership that has produced some amazing outcomes. I would like to provide you with one outstanding example of this. Manar El-Sayed is one of our amazing Year 12 VCAL students who has worked brilliantly across 2020. As a result of her efforts and the support of our VCAL team, she has been offered a direct place in a Bachelor Degree course at the beginning of 2021. This is an extremely rare occurrence with only 3 out of more than 15000 VCAL students being offered this direct entry in 2019. Well done Manar. Can I finish this update by thanking our new cleaning company, Facilities First, for the care and flexibility they have shown throughout our school closures and re-opening. I would also like to thank Melton City Council in general and Councillor Steve Abboushi in particular for their ongoing support of Lakeview Senior College across the very challenging term 2 & 3 hurdles that we have faced. Kind Regards and stay safe. Shayne Rule Principal

01.01.2022 Year 10 Studio Arts The task was to draw an upside down Pablo Picasso portrait, without turning the image around. This is a trick students can use to improve their drawing skills, tricking the brain to use the left hemisphere of the brain to connect eye and hand when drawing difficult images.
