21.01.2022 HI all, Well after a year of so many ups & downs its great to announce that our Senior Footballers & Netballers are looking at starting their pre-seasons in preparation for Season 2021 in a Covid Safe environment & following the current covid restrictions. Katie is corresponding with the netballers & looking to start something late November ... The footballers in our senior club are starting their pre-season tomorrow night. A few new recruits will be in attendance & we welcome any other new & old faces along. This is open to all Under 19s, Reserve & Senior players To start off they will be training from 6pm on Monday, Wednesday & Friday nights. Due to works at CE Brown Reserve until Christmas training this week will be as follows. Monday night at Sebastopol #1 ground Wednesday night at Western Oval in Pleasant Street Friday Night at Lake Esmond It will be great for them all to get together, even though they will be in small numbers until the next lot of restrictions are lifted. 07.01.2022 We are pleased to announce that senior coaches Dale Power and Katie Williams have recommited for the 2021 season. This will be Dale’s fourth year coaching the boys and he will be supported by Ash Simpson as assistant and Jesse Mclean coaching the reserves. We are however still seeking an U19 coach and are taking expressions of interest. This will also be Katie’s fourth year coaching A grade netball. Katie is in the process of finalising the remaining coaching positions for th...e 2021 season. We are happy to have both Dale and Kate lead us through 2021 and build on the foundations they have set in previous years.

02.01.2022 Well this time 10 years ago we were all full of excitement after a pretty successful Preliminary final day with the knowledge that we have 6 out of 7 teams going into the 2010 Grand Final!! We will start having a look at our grand final players & start today with our Under 18 Netball grand final (Premiership) players & their write ups in the 2010 Grand Final Record PRELIMINARY FINAL - 11H SEPTEMBER 2010 ... LAKERS NOTES PRELIMINARY FINAL 2010 Congratulations to our C grade netballers and our senior footballers who have booked themselves a spot in this years grand finals. Now all we have to do is get the rest of the teams into their grand finals as well. The senior boys got off to another great start against Ballarat in their second semi final. It was another blistering first quarter which seen us open up a lead which would be always hard to peg back. It has been a feature of our finals campaign so far. You have earned the weeks rest and could not have asked for a better lead into the grand final. The reserves boys were out muscled by Redan. They never really looked like it. But fortunately had earned the double chance which they will now use, and hopefully turn their form around immediately to win their preliminary final. It may have been a case of the boys getting a bit ahead of themselves. Now you must respond or miss out on a grand final spot, which will be a shame after the season you have had. It will take all of you to get over the line. The senior, reserve and U18 will all play off in the preliminary final while the C grade advance straight through to the grand final. U18s had a close game and won by 3 after being level at 3 qtr time. The reserves fought back from a 4 goal deficit at half time to win comfortably & the seniors set up a win in the first quarter with a 7 goal lead which was extended each quarter. This week will be a tough round for all teams as they play for a berth in the grand final. Presentation for our Club Best & Fairest will be Sunday 19th September, the day after BFL grand final. Please keep this day free. It will start with a BBQ at 12 o'clock & vote counting will start at 1pm RESERVES FOOTBALL PRELIMINARY FINAL Lakers 11.9 (75) defeated Ballarat 8.6 (54) to go into Grand final SENIOR NETBALL PRELIMINARY FINAL Lakers defeated Bacchus Marsh to gain a berth in Grand Final RESERVES NETBALL PRELIMINARY FINAL Lakers defeated Darley to proceed to Grand Final UNDER 18’s NETBALL - PRELIMINARY FINAL Lakers defeated East Point to go to Grand Final

01.01.2022 SEMI FINALS 4TH & 5TH SEPTEMBER 2010 (original Lakers Notes from 2010) LAKERS NOTES FINALS WEEK 2... What a mixed start to the finals. Senior level footballers were great, under eighteen footballers unlucky. C grade netballers great, the three other teams disappointed. But still they have their chance they earned to get themselves into the finals series. There is still a long way to go alot of work to be done. Congratulations to Danny and the under eighteen boys on what was a great year. It is great grounding for our young men who are about to join the senior ranks. Even though you have bowed out after your first final you can hold your heads high with your efforts. It is also a valuable lesson on football, play the game right out. Make sure that you support the rest of the netball and football teams in the finals and enjoy it in moderation. Well done to the reserves on a fantastic win. It was another clinical display of hard running footy. One more win this week and you will have won your spot in the grand final. And you will have deserved it after your year so far. Make sure you don't rest on that win and lift the intensity again. Play your best game for the year again. The seniors got off to a good start last week and applied great pressure in the opening quarter. Sunbury tried hard but couldn't bridge the gap on the good start we had. It was probably our best game of the year and it now gives you the opportunity to go straight into the grand final. There is no reason that the improvement cant continue. I am sure that there is still some there. Apply the same amount of pressure again and you will be well on your way. Finals netball from Sally. Unfortunately, it was not a great weekend for the netballers but congratulations to C grade on their 8 goal win. The other teams were not disgraced with tough encounters & small losing margins. The U18s fought well against a determined Redan to go down by 5 goals and reserves had 1 poor quarter which resulted in a 4 goal loss. The senior girls started well with a 4 goal lead in the first quarter but East threw 5 unanswered goals to start the 2nd quarter & lead by 4 at half time a reminder of how quickly a game can turn. By 3 quarter time we were 8 down but pressure in the final quarter saw us fight back to lose by 4. Remember girls we have played well during the season to finish top 2 so that we have the chance to play through the finals series so lets take the opportunity to advance from here. SENIOR FOOTBALL QUALIFYING FINAL Lakers 8.7 (55) defeated Ballarat 2.12 (24) RESERVES FOOTBALL QUALIFYING FINAL Lakers 5.4 (34) defeated by Redan 7.8 (50) SENIOR NETBALL QUALIFYING FINAL Lakers 47 defeated Redan 32 RESERVES NETBALL QUALIFYING FINAL Lakers 33 defeated Ballarat 19 C GRADE NETBALL - QUALIFYING FINAL Lakers 23 defeated Redan 12& gain a grand final berth. UNDER 18’s NETBALL - QUALIFYING FINAL Lakers 18 defeated Sunbury 15
