24.01.2022 Good morning amici and Happy New Year! Our first special of 2020 is spaghetti with salumi ragu! Homemade spaghetti with a tomato based ragù made of prosciutto, salame and mortadella, topped with salty ricotta cheese. Richness on a plate! Also, we just found out our Voicemail hasn't worked for the past 4 days...sorry! Glad to see Optus decided to remind us how a new year doesn't necessarily mean better service!!... See you soon!

22.01.2022 Good morning Redcliffe! Our Festoni with Duck Ragù is back on the menu! Donald had the first serve (I know, it's kind of creepy, try to Google "Donald duck eating duck" and look with your eyes haha), needless to say he loved it. Oh....how good am I with paint??? Mastering the art!

20.01.2022 Seafood lovers this is for you! This week special is Fregola sarda ai Frutti di Mare. Sardinian fregola is similar to cous cous but bigger, and it's full of flavor with all that beautiful seafood. You have to try it! Ciao!

15.01.2022 Aaaaand we’re back! Hey Redcliffe! How is it going? It’s been 2 months since we closed our doors and now we think it’s time to get back to normality (or what’s left of it) We missed you, we hope you missed us too, and we have an important news to share with you. As you can see from these pictures, we decided to change our formula.... Don’t you worry, restaurant is not going anywhere! After three and a half years we think we finally reached our final form, even though this is going to be a work in progress for quite some time. While we were closed, and living a normal life (meaning going to the shops at normal hours) we met many of you, we had nice chats, good laughs and all of you always asked if you could buy our products, and that got us thinking. Now, normally this kind of transition requires time, and planning, and meetings, brainstorming, calling all suppliers in. I mean, it would have been impossible to do while keep trading as a restaurant. But guess what? COVID-19 gave us all the time we needed, and so we decided (and we acted!), La Lanterna will be a Restaurant AND will also have a Deli section. You’ll be able to buy authentic imported Italian goods: prosciutto, salame, cheeses, pasta, oils, olivesyou name it! Now, as I said, this is a work in progress, and given the size of our venue, we’re not able to stock too many products, or too much of a single product, and this is why we’re working with lovely Marina from CUBEverse - Web & Graphic design for a brand new website and a new app where you can order, pre-order and click and collect. This will take at least two months, so I will let you know when we’ll be there. We will use the first few weeks as a test, to understand the products you like and the ones you don’t, and how to run the deli section alongside with the restaurant. We reduced the seatings in our restaurant and even though we’re on phase 2 already, we can’t accommodate more than 25 people, 15 inside and 10 outside.( even if they raised the number, the law still says 1 person every 4sqm, so while this is great news for big venues, it doesn’t really change much for us) When things will go back to normal, we won’t go back to full capacity, instead, we will stick with 25 people. Maybe this is not good news, but is also true that this way the experience will be more intimate, and overall, we hope, more enjoyable! All right, I guess that’s it for now! 14.01.2022 Everything is ready and we're about to celebrate Valentine's day with you all! Oh...if you forgot to buy some flowers for your other half, well, we've got you covered! Happy Valentine's day Redcliffe!!!

13.01.2022 Well ladies and gentlemen, our PM has spoken, only take away will be allowed. Dining at La Lanterna has always been about the whole experience, not only "the food" . We don't feel the "take away only" option would suit us, so we have decided that it's time for us to take a vacation, we don't really know for how long, but it's about our and your safety. To be honest with you, we've been thinking about closing our doors for a couple of weeks now, but we always ended up saying ..."next week" So I guess now it's the time. This week has been unbelievable. Your support has been amazing, we saw faces we haven't seen in a long while and it almost brought us to tears. We also enjoyed the company of those who are here once a week or once a month, and its been wonderful. This is why we love Redcliffe and it's why we decided to open our little restaurant here 3 years ago. Our families and friends in Italy kept us updated on the whole situation over there and we knew that what's happening here was inevitable, so we're somehow relieved that finally our government decided to act. It's weird, because while we're obviously sad, we're also sure that things will get better and we can't wait to be back and kick some *****. So yeah, this page will be silent for awhile, but it'll be very loud when we'll be about to come back. Be safe, be happy and enjoy your time with your family. All we have to do is to stay home, I mean, seriously people, we can "save the world" while watching Netflix, how cool is that? We'll see you soon!

12.01.2022 Good morning beautiful people and happy Tuesday! Gian and I have been talking a lot about what to do with our business in these past days and we decided that the best thing to do right now is to limit the seating in our restaurant. Starting from this week we will have 2 seating, the first at 5.30pm and the second at 7.30pm. Our aim is to try to have more space between our customers, meaning that we won't allow more than 8 tables during the same seating.... Walk-ins will be permitted only if we think we can still maintain the security distance, so please understand that even if the restaurant is "half empty" you might be turned down. For bookings already in place, i'll make sure to call you all and discuss your options. Take aways will be available (and encouraged!) We strongly believe our customers and staff safety come first and we will review this decision every week. Stay safe and don't forget to help those in need Alex & Gian
