23.01.2022 Thank you again to all our lovely guests who we have enjoyed hosting since December 2011. We are pleased to advise that we have rented our beautiful property to a lovely family until mid 2020. This means that we are no longer able to offer La Maison Pacifique as a holiday rental until after that time. Despite the unfortunate circumstances - including false accusations - that have been leveled at us in recent times (and forced us to prematurely close our home as a holiday l...et), we are delighted to have found a lovely family to enjoy La Maison Pacifique as their home. We welcome them with open arms both to our home and the wonderful Casuarina community. We know you will love it there. We will continue to fight for the rights of all Short Term Holiday Owners in the Tweed Shire. We stand with you to allow you to make your own homes available to holiday makers. Tourism is, after all, the largest industry on the Tweed Coast and a great employer of many locals (not just in tourism but many associated industries and businesses). We sincerely thank the myriad of wonderful locals who have supported us and our home since 2011 and to the many kind and thoughtful neighbours who have confirmed to us their support. This is about ensuring that there are consistent, state-wide regulations and frameworks to enable high quality, consistent STR operations which enhance local communities and provide tourism and employment opportunities across our region. The NSW Department of Planning and Environment is calling for feedback on pro...posed amendments to planning rules in order to provide for short-term rental accommodation (STRA) in NSW. STRA was formerly known as short-term holiday letting. The proposed amendments will introduce state-wide planning rules, including a new land use definition, exempt and complying development pathways and building safety standards. 19.01.2022 TWEED SHIRE COUNCIL SHUTS LA MAISON PACIFIQUE We are devastated to advise that the Tweed Shire Council has issued us with a prohibited use notice as a short term holiday let (STHL). We will be closing, effective immediately and permanent letting our beautiful property. When we opened in 2011, STHLs were not prohibited in our residential zone.
