24.01.2022 Please be aware of this fire at Yumali/Netherton and the below Watch and Act message for our local area. Please stay safe in these terrible weather conditions

22.01.2022 Some info about the Yumali fire

20.01.2022 In case we forgot last nights’ storm, it looks like there’s a reminder on it’s way!

20.01.2022 If you can spare a few minutes, this is an amazing recollection of the physical and emotional sides of being impacted by a bushfire. Ex-Lameroo residents Ray and Tania Jackson (Ray is our current CFS Region 3 Commander and a past Brigade Captain) speak candidly about their experience with the Black Summer fire. We live in vulnerable communities in the Mallee area are not immune to bushfires. We have recently seen how quickly fire can move in unfavourable weather conditions.... Please, please make sure you have your Bushfire Survival Plan ready to put into action if you ever need it https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/prepare-f/bushfire-survival-plan/

19.01.2022 BUSHFIRE WATCH AND ACT MESSAGE : issued for NETHERTON, CARCUMA, PARRAKIE, GERANIUM AND LAMEROO in THE MURRAYLANDS Take action now as this bushfire may threaten... your safety. If you are not prepared, leave now and if the path is clear, go to a safer place. Do not enter this area as conditions are dangerous. The YUMALI, KRUEGER ROAD fire is uncontrolled. This stubble fire is burning in a EAST NORTH EASTERLY towards GERANIUM, JABUK, PARRAKIE AND LAMEROO. Conditions are continually changing. For updates listen to your local ABC radio station on a battery powered radio, visit the CFS website https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au or call the Bushfire Information Hotline 1800 362 361. Homes are not built to withstand these fire conditions, however they can be used as a shelter against heat from the fire. You may lose power, water, phone and data connections. Fire crews are responding but you should not expect a firefighter at your door. WHAT TO DO: Check and follow your Bushfire Survival Plan. Protect yourself from the fire’s heat put on protective clothing. Tell family and friends of your plans. IF YOU ARE LEAVING: Leave now, don’t delay. Roads may become blocked or access may change. Smoke will reduce visibility. Secure your pets for travel. If you become stuck in your car, park away from bushes, cover yourself, get onto the floor as the windows may break from the intense heat. PREPARE TO DEFEND: Identify a spot to shelter in, with more than one exit, keep moving away from the heat of the fire. Bring pets inside and restrain them. Move flammable materials such as doormats, wheelie bins and outdoor furniture away from your house. Shapes on this map image indicate the Warning Area to which this message applies. 14.01.2022 Some good advice, especially if you are visiting one of our surrounding national parks

13.01.2022 Before you harvest, check your equipment and make sure you have your farm firefighting unit close by when out in the paddock reaping. Why risk it? Plan ahead. #bebushfireready #5minbushfireplan

12.01.2022 FYI - the threat from the Yumali fire has eased Thanks to all the various ground and air crews for your hard work today, in trying conditions

10.01.2022 How amazing are volunteers? On International Day of the Volunteer, and every day, we want to send our thanks to all our CFS volunteers, who, 24/7, 365 days a ye...ar, are on call to respond to wide range of incidents across the state. We also want to thank the volunteers across the emergency services, and all of the community groups who help us to respond and help to keep the community safe.

10.01.2022 These horrible winds are pushing smoke from the Yumali fire over Lameroo and surrounding area. Day 1 of Lockdown has not been kind to us. Please check on your friends/family/neighbours by giving them a call to make sure they are OK. Let them know what is happening, especially if they are not aware of the fire and current Watch and Act Message. Stay indoors and stay safe everyone.

07.01.2022 Key messaging for bushfire safety in SA given COVID restrictions From midnight tonight, a six-day initial stage of ‘circuit breaker’ restrictions will be implem...ented to protect the South Australian community from the spread of COVID-19. These restrictions may affect how you follow CFS bushfire safety advice. Review your Bushfire Survival Plan using the up-to-date advice on the SA Health website www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVID-19 UNDER LOCKDOWN During this initial restriction period, you can only leave your home for limited reasons. This includes during a bushfire emergency or if your home is unsafe. Some relocation destinations in Bushfire Safer Places will not be available due to these COVID-19 restrictions. - Cinemas and other public venues will be closed. - Visits to shopping centres are for essential food shopping only If you plan to stay with relatives or friends when you relocate to a Bushfire Safer Place, consider alternative arrangements if your plan is to stay with elderly relatives or immuno-compromised relatives or friends. This will reduce the risk of exposing vulnerable people to COVID-19. If you are in self-quarantine or self-isolation due to COVID-19, you can leave your home if you are in an emergency or your home is unsafe but try to get back into self-isolation as soon as you safely can. During an emergency, if you need to attend an emergency relief centre or a Bushfire Last Resort Refuge, you need to stay outside, alert emergency services (e.g. SAPOL, relief authorities at the location etc) and follow instructions. You must ensure you advise emergency services that you have been forced to leave self-quarantine or self-isolation due to the emergency and that: - you are a close contact of a known COVID-19 case - you have recently tested positive to COVID-19 or if - you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or - you are in self-quarantine because you have recently returned from interstate. UNDER RESTRICTIONS State government restrictions are in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This may affect how you follow CFS bushfire safety advice. Leaving early during COVID-19 will be a little different this summer. While COVID-19 restrictions are in place, you can leave your home during an emergency or if your home is unsafe. Consider the following in your leave early plan to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19: During COVID-19 restrictions you may travel if you are doing so as part of your bushfire plan. If you are unwell or have symptoms, isolate yourself from others and ensure you always wear a face covering and get tested as soon as possible. Add to your 'Emergency Kit' - Additional face masks - Hand sanitiser - more than 60% alcohol - Antibacterial wipes Follow SA Health COVID-19 advice - Wear a face mask - Practise good hygiene. Wash or sanitise your hands when you enter someone else’s home, if possible - Do not shake hands, hug or kiss as a greeting - Maintain physical distancing, keep at least 1.5 metres away from others
