12.01.2022 A message from Jude, our owner. We have been waiting until after Black Friday to post! - I opened La Moore as a single woman in 1982. Mortgaged up to the eyeballs, I worked 8-6 every day until I could afford a staff member! I was so proud but also so scared... What had I done?!? At that time 90% of our stock was Australian made, and 10% Italian. Over the years the footwear industry evolved and sadly Australian manufacturing came to a halt. German and Sp...anish companies replaced them. We have had some really beautiful brands in our shop in our time and made amazing relationships with our suppliers. After opening the shop I married and had 2 kids; they grew up under the desk! I’ll never forget the time my daughters teacher said I put her in the ‘cupboard’ when she came to the shop; she meant the storeroom! The main strength of my business has been the staff. I’ve had girls spend up to 22 years with me, the the consistency of our team and the passion and knowledge made for a great combination. And of course, our wonderful customers. We have formed the most lovely friendships with you and I have watched many of you marry, have kids and even Grandchildren! We have shared life stories and even cried together. What a ride we have been on! I’ve traded through 3 recessions, 3 renovations and countless centre managers. Covid has made us all reassess and for us, it meant the closure of the shop after 38 years. Thank you to all of the wonderful women who made La Moore a successful business and made it such a pleasure to open every day and serve you all.
