14.01.2022 I remember packing up every holidays and going to our grandparents dairy farm where mum grew up. Mum and Nan would spend their days comparing fabrics they had bought, deciding what they were going to make and then they’d get busy cutting out and sewing their new creations As I got older and the lure of the milking shed wore off I started to take more of an interest in what they were doing. After a few lessons from mum I was hooked and I talked her into buying me my first sewi...ng machine, I think I was about 13 I had a love hate relationship with sewing for a while as frustration often set in when I couldn’t create what I imagined However, it was my ‘happy place’, when I was sewing or generally being creative, time stood still and it really was a form of mediation, I could loose myself in it for hours. Over the years of working on a career, getting married, having children and so on, the pull to sit at the machine morphed into other creative pursuits ... painting, visual merchandising, interiors, styling among other things So now I’m back at the machine, this time creating one-of-a-kind bags to add to our collections. Expect lots of texture, pattern and embellishment, I’m definitely no minimalist I’ve collected textiles, trims and other embellishments for years and I’m excited to give people the opportunity to wear a bag that is uniquely theirs I can’t wait to share these pieces with you Marika xx

07.01.2022 So much has changed since early March when we were invited to speak at our first Melbourne Fashion Festival. And while there are certainly more important issues happening at the moment we can't help but look forward to when we can come together again. To be able to 'get dressed up' and connect in person with others, like our Start your fashion business community who provided us with this opportunity to be involved. There's nothing we love more than imagining then creating our outfits in the weeks leading up to @fashionequipped's 'Future of Fashion' event. Marika and mum were both busy at the machines while Ilana was on 'tea making' duties (that's what happens when you aren't as skilled at sewing ) and doing countless trips to Spotlight. But who doesn't love a trip to Spotlight?
