25.01.2022 M E G // STUDIO MATERNITY We are totally awkward in photos I’m not ‘good’ at having my photo taken We don’t like having our picture taken We don’t know how to pose probably the most common opening statements I hear from new clients... (like errrrrrry time !) Rest assured MOST people feel a sense of apprehension heading into a session (unless they’re a Kardashian ) so what I love more than anything - is hearing at the end we felt so comfortable that was so much f...un That was easy that wasn’t what we expected at all! Anyone can take a photo, making clients feel comfortable and building an awesome experience around their session is a practiced skill... I’m very conscious at sessions of making clients feel comfortable and leaving them with a positive experience, because I want you to do this again, and again -if not with me then with someone - the memories are worth it! 21.01.2022 P A R M A R + C H I T T E N D E N // EXTENDED FAMILY Four Generations + Joined Families Truth Moment, I used to really loathe shooting extended family groups... the challenging logistics of session planning and coordinating large groups of people can be seriously unfun and complicated... the formats are a little more stand and smile and a lot less play and cuddle, so they feel very different to my usual little intimate family sessions, so creatively they’re not the same to... shoot. But something happened over Covid, something changed - I’ve found with this wave of extended sessions how much the significance of these sessions and the value of these images way surpasses the temporary uncomfortable. Creating priceless generational heirloom memories, like is there any greater honour or privilege? Striving to shoot sessions where I can be super creative and artistic and candid in my work is all very well and good but remembering the WHY in taking pause to document your most precious humans has taken such a deeper weighting with me! (Even if it is a slightly more vanilla stand and smile photo!) So give me your awkward teens, stiff grandparents, hard work in laws, non PDA loving parents (*disclaimer these lovely humans were none of these ) because I’m gonna work my butt off to create memories that one day will be invaluable and cherished by generations not yet even born... So when was the last time you captured a moment with you whole big crazy clan? What value would you put on two three or even four generations in one image?! Come find me
