25.01.2022 It would be interesting to see what evidence, if any, was submitted in favor of the curfew. A judgment to look forward to.

24.01.2022 The new office now has its own beach/sandpit in the waiting room for clients to make sandcastles, (except we don’t keep clients waiting long). Have a great end to 2020, a Happy New Year, and we’ll see you in 2021. In the meantime, I may have to drink some cement, and ........... If you do sing Auld Lang Syne, be the masked singer.

18.01.2022 IMPORTANT For those who have been following the publication of the Public Health Orders on our Facebook page, I invite you to go back through our history and try to find copies of the Public Health Orders in circumstances where the links now have been modified or removed from the New South Wales Health website. A search of the New South Wales Legislation website also shows that the original Public Health Order restricting gathering and movement has been removed from there as ...well. So what, you may say ? This means that the original Order appears to have been revoked and a new Order has been created, being the link below. The original Public Health Order restricting gathering and movement was operating from 31 March 2020. As Public Health Orders can only operate for a period of up to 90 days, that Public Health Order would have expired on or about 29 June 2020. The Order that has been passed now, commences today and will therefore continue for up to 90 days from now.The NSW Government have called it an easing of restrictions, when it is, technically, the imposing of new ones, based on the present perception of a public health risk. Some of you may be concerned about that, some of you may be entirely okay with that. I personally prefer honesty and transparency in a government. At least now you are aware that they have created an entirely new Order on the grounds that, as at today, there remains a risk to public health based on the current data, (being 4 positive tests from over 12,200 in the 24 hrs to this morning). https://gazette.legislation.nsw.gov.au/so/download.w3p

17.01.2022 The Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order (No 4) 2020 [NSW] commenced on 1 July 2020. As this order had a lifespan of 90 days, it was due to expire today, and the good news is that it has been repealed. However, Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order (No 5) 2020 [NSW] commenced this morning to replace it. ... There are some increases in the numbers allowed at certain events, subject to the 4 square metre rule, with the biggest change, at clause 9(3) being the ability to stand up at a venue if you are playing darts, pool, or a game that requires you to stand, provided that you are not drinking. Clearly the best medical advice, supported by randomised control trials, is behind that change. Another 90 days to go. Hopefully the numbers will support further positive amendments to the Order within that time. https://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au//Public%20Health%20(COV

16.01.2022 Lancaster Law & Mediation was pleased to sponsor the Best Small Business Award -it’s the fourth presentation in, at about the 29 minute mark. Congratulations to the winners........ you’ll have to watch.

14.01.2022 So,....this week Lancaster Law and Mediation will be signing the lease on new premises at 9-15 Railway Parade WOLLONGONG, in the soon to be iconic, Skye Wollongong. We will be fitting the space out over the next few months and will hopefully see in the New Year,(and a better year), in the new premises. Presumably named after the beautiful Scottish Island of Skye, and near the Irish pub, Dicey Riley's, in New South Wales, the Celtic omens are positively portentous. We just h...ave to "Brexit" our old premises. Just remember though, we do mediation, not meditation, (although we think about our clients much of the time). #mediation

13.01.2022 Congratulations to Aaron Trevisi on his admission as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW today following a COVID Safe Ceremony in the Banco Court and streamed live on YouTube. Aaron has demonstrated a keen attitude and an aptitude for the law that will see him become a successful solicitor and a commendable addition to the ranks of lawyers generally. We are proud of Aaron as we have seen the hard work put in by him to reach this day.... A link to the ceremony conducted by Chief Justice Tom Bathurst appears below, and yes, he does drop the Santa joke in there as well. Feel free to contact Aaron for advice and legal services. https://youtu.be/DVPyUi8_Vs8

01.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all. You can have more than 10 adults gathered in a household, in Wollongong this Christmas as the arbitrary government restriction is on visitors, and does not include the members of the household. The Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on... Gathering and Movement) Order (No 7) 2020 states, at paragraph 15: "15 Directions of Minister about number of persons allowed on residential premises (1) The Minister directs that each adult member of a household must not allow more than 50 visitors to be at the place of residence of the household at any one time. Note: NSW Health recommends a maximum 30 visitors if the place of residence does not have any outdoor space. (2) The Minister directs that a visitor to a place of residence must not participate in a gathering at the residence consisting of more than 50 visitors. (3) This clause does not apply to (a) a significant event, or (b) the viewing or inspection of real property for sale or lease or an auction of real property. (4) For the purposes of this clause, a person is not a visitor to a place of residence if the person is a member of the household of the place of residence. (5) From the beginning of 21 December 2020 until the end of 23 December 2020 for premises in Greater Sydney, the reference in subclauses (1) and (2) to 50 visitors is taken to be a reference to 10 visitors." Greater Sydney means (a) the Greater Sydney Region within the meaning of the Greater Sydney Commission Act 2015, and (b) the local government areas of the Central Coast and Wollongong. Greater Sydney Stay safe, be healthy and have a Merry Christmas - get some vitamin D into you.
