14.01.2022 DELWP Hume, Trust for Nature and North East Catchment Management Authority (NECMA) brought together Landcare groups, universities, government agencies and othe...r organisations yesterday at DELWP Wodonga to share information about the interesting and important work currently being conducted around the north east to help protect and enhance threatened species. We heard about many projects on threatened native frogs, stoneflies, phascogales and fish; from genetic sampling and population monitoring, species translocation, weed management and habitat reconstruction. The event ended with a discussion about the future priorities for threatened species in North East Victoria and will become an annual get-together. Thank you to our guest speakers from La Trobe University Albury-Wodonga, Parklands Albury Wodonga, Parks Victoria, Landcare Milawa Markwood Oxley, The Murray-Darling Freshwater Research Centre, Wooragee Landcare & Community, Trust for Nature and Koetong Landcare Group. 07.01.2022 "We have been working to re-establish this group and we are now well on the way. Landcare over the years has changed to encompass far more than pest, weeds and tree (although they are still relevant as they were at the beginning of Landcare 30 years ago). Landcare has the capacity to support works on private land as well as public land in partnerships with Committee of Managements, Council etc. This is where we would like to know your interests and what you would like to get ...out of Landcare, it could be information sessions, workshops, on ground works, farm tours, Even more specific is ideal, so we can source suitable funding and build projects around these ideas. eg; fence and reveg an 800m length of my property along the King River, Bee keeping, building nest boxes for native mammals. We will be having a community planting day in the next few weeks, we will let you know when that is.....and hope you can join us with your ideas. If you are keen to join our Landcare Group you can complete and online registration at http://goo.gl/forms/N6lXftOX4FCYJLKH3 and direct transfer your $20 fee. For those of you who have joined already thank you, you will receive confirmation of your membership shortly." Gayle South Ovens Landcare Network Local Landcare Facilitator 03 57511184 0448983109
