The couple commissioned a Scottish artist to paint their old corrugated iron shed with a pair of Plains-wanderers, the grassland’s flagship species. For decades, the McGillvrays have been active in farming, protecting, and advocating for the birds, grasslands and conservation, as well as being founding members of the Northern Plains CMN. 08.01.2022 Since beginning their nest box program back in 2010, Connecting Country has installed over 450 boxes on private and public land across the Mount Alexander region. The nest boxes were designed specifically for use by the threatened Brush-tailed Phascogale (also known as the Tuan), which is a nocturnal hollow-dependent marsupial native to their area.
