23.01.2022 Campylobacteriosis is a production limiting disease causing abortion and the birth of weak, non-viable lambs. Campylobacter is a naturally occurring bacteria, with the main abortion causing strain prevalent on two thirds of Australian farms. Maiden ewes are at the greatest risk, and the bacteria can cause gastrointestinal illness if transmitted to humans.
