24.01.2022 Looking for group supporters
24.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE Thursday 23rd January, 2014 ... 2014 Glasshouse Country Festival calls for groups Now is the time for local community groups to start thinking about being part of the vibrant Glasshouse Country Festival to be held 17 October 26 October 2014. Representatives of all kinds of community groups are encouraged to find out how the festival can be a win-win for groups and the wider community at an information and uplifting brainstorming session on Thursday 6th February in Beerwah. The purpose of the festival is to celebrate the unique arts, culture, heritage and environment of the Glasshouse Country area. The last festival held in October 2013 was a great success and brought many benefits to the area. Over 5000 people attended the 34 events which were hosted by 20 community organisations. Natasha Odgers from the festival organising committee and Hinterland Community Development Association said the festival provides many benefits to community groups. This community-based festival offers so much for local groups to grow as groups and through connections with others across our special part of the region. By being involved in the festival, groups can further raise their profile, save money on promotions and other aspects plus attract new volunteers and members. Event hosts are particularly encouraged to be part of Glasshouse Country wide workshops leading towards the festival. Workshops in the lead up to the festival will provide support, guidance and skills useful to participating community groups such as event planning, sponsorships and publicity, Natasha said. Festival organisers are seeking a wide variety of groups and events to participate. Events at the last Glasshouse Country Festival included live music, historical festivities, cultural performances, art, a hangi, markets, tours, walks, triathlons, skate comps and more! The Glasshouse Country Festival is a community based, not-for-profit series of community events, coordinated by a small committee of dedicated local community organisations, individuals and businesses. To see more about the festival held in October last year visit www.glasshousecountryfestival.com.au. Come along to the festival information and brainstorming session on Thursday 6 February, 1.00 2.30pm at the Beerwah and District Youth and Community Centre (BADYACC), Sports Ground Complex (take the entry road opposite ALDI). Light snacks will be provided. Those interested in attending please contact Natasha at [email protected] or 0418 720 515. Photograph Crowds flocked with the steam train at the last festival. 06.01.2022 Be a part of good old fashioned Australian culture. Ross Price, AKA William Landsborough, along with his theatre group Black Grail Productions, will reenact the capture and sentencing of Ned Kelly. Step back into the days of old with the arrival of Ned Kelly on the steam train at Landsborough train station. See if you can help William Landsborough’s constables track him down!... Railway park will be buzzing with old fashioned market stalls, music and festivities. Take a short walk to the museum where there will be discounted entry, a barbeque and some exciting displays. Then take a stroll through the town and sample some of the delicious eateries and specialty shops Landsborough has to offer. To make the most of this fun and historical day, come along dressed in your favorite colonial garb!
