24.01.2022 Happy Wednesday!!!! Today at Little Toddlers room, the children engaged in a beautiful activity. They used natural materials to create an artwork! Such as celery, lime and green apple exploring different patterns by stamping them on paper with coloured paints. Through this activity we developed our senses in feeling its textures and smelling their different aroma! It was a great extension from our sensory exploration with fruits and vegetables last week. ...
24.01.2022 THE IMPORTANCE OF DEVELOPING FINE MOTOR SKILLS. . Fine motor skills involve the use of the small muscles that control the hand, fingers, and thumb. They help children perform important tasks like feeding themselves, grasping toys, buttoning and zipping clothes, writing, drawing, and more. The ability to complete self-care and every day tasks helps a childs self esteem and confidence to increase.... Its important to start working with children on building their fine motor skills early on. Fine motor skills will develop and improve as they move through childhood. It just takes the right kind of practice. . To foster these skills, the big toddlers have extended on lasts weeks rainbow hearts artworks with a sticking activity using contact and collage pieces. The children engaged a pincer grip to carefully place each piece in their desired position. . #earlychildhoodeducation #learningthroughplay #earlychildhooddevelopment #educator #eylf @ Landsdale Early Learning & Enrichment

20.01.2022 RECYCLING . . Kindy/preschool have been busy turning boxes, bottles and tins into musical instruments. Through imagination these items usually destined for landfill are now part of our day to day practice. We look forward to making music! .... Sustainability and the environment is a critical element of the childcare curriculum. Impacting all seven areas of the National Quality Standards (NQS). It also contributes to each of the five learning outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Sustainable practices can be addressed through: The use of indoor and outdoor areas with built and natural settings. The reuse of resources, materials and equipment multiple times. The mission to care for the environment and supporting children to become environmentally responsible. Here at Landsdale ELE we teach children environmental sustainability by showing them how to be sustainable and explaining why its important. . #sustainablepractices #earlychildhoodeducation #educators #learningthroughplay #playbasedlearning #reducereuserecycle
20.01.2022 QUALITY AREA 3 THE ENVIRONMENT AS THE THIRD TEACHER Contemporary theories and research informed by the Reggio Emilia approach recognise and value the environment as a third teacher.... Behind educators and families, physical spaces hold the potential to influence what and how children learn. Things to consider: How does the physical space of the service encourage childrens agency? How is learning built into the environment? What learning opportunities are created by changing the space, for example by adding or taking away resources or equipment? How can collaboration with children, families and service staff help create sustainable environments? How do the different spaces of the service foster a sense of belonging and community? How does the environment reflect and honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture? . #learningthroughplay #playbasedlearning #earlychildhoodeducation #reggioemiliaapproach #eylf

17.01.2022 COVID19 TEMPERATURE SCREENING. While 80% of COVID-19 patients may only experience mild symptoms, they may display an elevated temperature. Many workplaces and public sites are now pre-screening staff and customer temperatures prior to entry as a preventative measure.... For your health and ours, we will continue to screen for temperatures on arrival at the centre. Temperatures greater than 37.5C will not be permitted to enter the service. Thank you for your patience during this unprecedented time.
17.01.2022 Meet Raj. Raj is one of our many long term staff members. She has been at Landsdale for over 5 years working throughout the centre. Raj loves to work with children and has a keen understanding of how important development is during the early years. Raj strongly believes that each child is a capable learner in their own individual way and likes to involve children in the decision making process when it comes to their learning needs.... To meet Raj and our other dedicated educators, book a tour with us and get to know our centre.
17.01.2022 With the heavy rain, the little toddlers have brought the outdoor environment into their room this week. Their educators have been busy observing the children using their imaginations and exploring the natural world. . Nature provides many benefits such as: Fostering curiosity, exploration, imagination and patience.... Children learn important concepts in science through sensory exploration of the outdoors, (physical properties of natural materials such as soil, rocks, sticks, leaves and water). Being outdoors regularly helps children release energy and be less stressed, which allows them to focus on quieter tasks. Furthermore, the interest that nature holds for children calls for their concentration skills. Exposure to nature also enhances young childrens language development. This is because children will inquire about the names of the new things they investigate and they seek words to describe the processes they observe. Nature provides opportunities to be outside and more physically active.. Children who are physically active are more likely to become healthy adults. . #learningthroughplay #naturebasedlearning #naturebasedplay #earlychildhoodeducation #educator @ Landsdale Early Learning & Enrichment

13.01.2022 The EYLF describes cultural competence as, much more than an awareness of cultural differences. It is the ability to understand, communicate with, and effectively interact with people across cultures. Its about recognising that all children are born belonging to a culture that predates their parents and may involve traditional practices, values and knowledge. This culture is also informed by their experiences as a family, as individuals and within various communities. Wit...h this, the big toddlers have been learning about their individual differences, recognising that we all have our own values and that some children have different family dynamics, values and practices - that should be acknowledged too. Amy says.. To celebrate pride month in the ECEC big toddlers have decided to go with a we love everyone approach. Throughout the week we have explored different types of families (same sex families, families with one mum or one dad, families with no mums or dads but instead with grandparents or other extended family member) Weve watched Nickelodeons Pride month on YouTube which encourages us to follow our passions and be ourselves! By understanding the unique sense of belonging that each child experiences within their cultural community and family life, educators can create an educational setting that offers a similar sense of belonging and allows each child to thrive.

13.01.2022 Exploring colour through the natural environment. Were feeling very inspired by nature here at Landsdale ELE. The little toddlers were able to connect the colours that they have discovered to the natural world around them. Our educators were able to scaffold their learning through the use of descriptive language when talking with the children about their artworks. The use of descriptive language encourages communication skills and allows the children to expand their vocabulary. #learningthroughplay #naturebasedlearning #educators #earlychildhoodeducation @ Landsdale Early Learning & Enrichment
