02.01.2022 Exciting new lessons launched from Cool Australia! #2040 Hello Kate, The much-anticipated new Australian documentary 2040 launched nationally in cinemas yesterd...ay (Thursday 23 May). Directed by and starring Damon Gameau (That Sugar Film), 2040 is a positive and empowering journey to explore what the future could look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them rapidly into the mainstream. To coincide with the release, we’re launching four Year 7-10 geography lessons. The Year 7 & 8 Transport and Liveability lesson investigates transport in terms of liveability and our environment. Students look at how future transport could be designed to improve liveability. The Year 9 & 10 Food Security and Urban Farming lesson explores the practice of urban farming as one solution to current and future food security challenges. Students identify a potential site for a local urban farm and create a proposal. Damon and his team made 2040 to inspire a younger audience so they’re encouraging students to see the film during its national cinema release.
