We had some keen nest spotters during our bush walk and some creative nests built during our craft activity. Altogether, a fun and educational Lane Cove Bush Kids activity. 18.01.2022 We had an unexpected and timely visitor at our second Nature's Nightlife activity - two Tawny Frogmouths were roosting just above where our mat was set up. It was a true David Attenborough moment and right on topic! We also had a special guest Cara the Ringtail Possum with guest presenter Bev from Sydney Wildlife. A bushwalk spotting nesting boxes, learning about different nocturnal wildlife and nature craft to create our own night life picture rounded out a full activity.... For more information about Lane Cove Bush Kids go to www.lanecove.nsw.gov.au/bushkids.

11.01.2022 Flying-foxes are vital pollinators, yet this can bring them into contact with power lines which can be fatal. To learn more about the frequency and distribution of flying-fox electrocution Taronga Conservation Society Australia has created a project on iNaturalist. One and all are encouraged to: ... 1. report sightings using the iNaturalist app, and 2. spread the word so that others report sightings. The data is public, so anyone can contribute and access this information: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/flying-foxes-powerlines I know it is a tough topic, but the data is valuable.
