18.01.2022 According to our report, Missing: Young People in Australian News Media, young people’s voices are vastly absent from news coverage about them. Despite young pe...ople being disproportionately impacted by the pandemic and resulting recession, articles about young people decreased by 14% when compared to the same time period between Feb 1 and July 31 in 2019. The report also found that when young people are included in the media, they are often stereotyped, for example being characterised as dangerous or criminal, lazy, or lacking resilience. To better understand how young people across Australia are represented in the media, we’ve teamed up with Meltwater to unpack how online news outlets portrayed them during the first six months of COVID-19.... 15.01.2022 Fabulous to see the first group of young people go through Laneway Youths two day Mental Health First Aid First Training for young people. A big thank you to the PHN for the grant to run this important programme. Thank you to Rosie from Mindseye Training and Consulting for facilitating the workshop. Lots more work to do to better support young people and building capacity in our region. #youthmatter
