25.01.2022 Since Saint Patrick’s Day we have been loving learning about rainbows! We did some research together and found a Travelling Water experiment to create our own paper rainbow. Paper is made up of cellulose fibres, which water molecules cling to, allowing it to travel up the fibres of the paper!

22.01.2022 World Oceans Day! Together, we can minimise our impact on the planet and clean up our oceans We celebrated with a hands on approach to learning as we carefully picked any unwanted plastic from our playdough ocean, focusing on the small sustainable changes we can all engage in.... We have also been learning about wonderful sea creatures and interesting facts about oceans.. Did you know, 94% of Earth’s living species exist within our oceans

21.01.2022 ANZAC Day celebrations are looking very different this year, but are still as important as ever. One of the ways we are paying our respects is with a poppy field at the front of the centre. We encourage everyone to join in and place a poppy in their lawn or on their letterboxes to show their respect. Don’t forget to tag us so we can continue to connect #putyourpoppyout

21.01.2022 Mycobacterium vaccae - big word right? But also big benefits! This microscopic bacteria is present in soil and research has found that it stimulates nerves to release serotonin - the happy hormone Regular mud play is not only lots of fun, it can also promote improved cognitive function and boost our immune system! Health & happiness in our very own backyards We love getting out into our natural gardens and finding some fresh muddy puddles to explore!... #eylf #earlychildhoodeducation #mudplay #invitationtoplay #playbasedlearning #playbased

20.01.2022 WE ARE HIRING Lang Park ELC is expanding our team of qualified educators to assist in our continued growth of our EXCEEDING service.

20.01.2022 We recently received a parcel from @floraandfaunaau and instead of putting the packaging into our recycling bin we asked the children if they had any ideas on how we could reuse it? When the children saw the texture of the packaging, they all agreed it looked like snake skin! After Jessie (teacher) placed the lights within the snakes body, the children told her that this was just like The Rainbow Serpent and the lights were the new animals ready to be born

18.01.2022 Last year we replanted the seeds from our Halloween pumpkins and we are very excited to see them beginning to grow! We are now brainstorming some delicious homemade meals we can use them in. Do you have any suggestions? #homegrownveggies

18.01.2022 A MASSIVE shout out to my team of Educators! Keep being amazing We WILL get through this together This week, Early childhood educators and teachers across the country will go into early learning services, preschools and schools where they will interact with children of essential workers who could be exposed to COVID-19. ... They will not be given face masks or protective clothing. They won't get free coffee, half price pizza or special shopping hours. They will perform their jobs in ways they have never done before and they will do it with a smile on their faces so that the children in their care don't know how scared they are; Scared for those children. Scared for their own. Scared of being responsible for taking the virus home to loved ones. Thank you to all Educators, Teachers and anyone else heading into an early learning centre, preschool or school this week to keep it running so that our amazing health workers and carers can take care of the sick and the vulnerable, our shops can stay open and services can continue. You too are heroes!

17.01.2022 Staying connected with our children during times like this is so important

17.01.2022 Exploring learning through playdough offers so many benefits and open ended experiences. Recently we have been exploring different textures and scents with playdough by adding herbs, stones and flowers from our gardens. We are also adding in essential oils, either single oils or the children will make their own delicious smelling blends... We use the @imaginationtree recipe for our playdough

10.01.2022 The world of art plays a large part in your child’s development. By exposing children to a range of mediums, styles & artists you are facilitating an environment where children learn to embrace multiple points of views, as art helps children learn to observe, describe, analyse & interpret. Here you can see the children exploring the style of ‘Still Life’ painting..

09.01.2022 Not only is playing in mud fun- scientists have discovered that it actually makes you happier! This is due to the microscopic bacteria called ‘Mycobacterium Vaccae’ which increases the level of serotonin in our brains, which our kindergarten children learnt all about today! #internationalmudday

08.01.2022 We became herpetologists for a day! We found a Southern Brown Tree Frog on our outside path, so we made a temporary habitat for our little guest. The children researched why he needed earthy materials for his habitat, observed the way he moved and discussed what his diet may include.

04.01.2022 We have been reading Elmer in our classroom and then saw the beautiful post from @thejoyjournal It inspired us to get creative with some recycled paper and fabric For those who don’t know Elmer, he is a colourful elephant who lives among a grey herd, and after he tries and fails to hide his true self, he learns that his friends love him for his uniqueness.... Elmer teaches us that everyone has something unique to bring the table and there's no reason trying to disguise your true self. Always be yourself, especially if you are a multicoloured elephant... #earlychildhoodeducation #elmerelephant #earlychildhooddevelopment #playbasedlearning #invitationtolearn #earlyyears #playtolearn
