25.01.2022 Not long to go! German language VCE students all over Victoria will sit their written German exam on Tuesday, 21 November. Here are some tips, which help you to prepare last minute style. 1. Try to cramp in as many practise exams as possible. You find the entire German exams including the audio files on the VCAA website. What a great resource that is. When tutoring VCE students at Language Excellence I am always surprised how little students actually use this wealth of train...ing material. Its comprehensive and its FREE! Past German Exams 2. Have a little checklist prepared in your head for proofreading at the end of your exam. Try to finish 5-10 minutes earlier to allow some time for proofreading. Go through your texts and start looking for mistakes from the easiest (noun capitalisation, number, verb position) to the more difficult (gender, prepositions) and if you have some time left, see where you can improve your style. The checklist should contain the following: word order, verb position, coordinating, subordinating clauses verbs agree with their grammatical subjects prepositions (Dativ, Accusative, Genitive, Two way) tenses, haben vs sein for Perfect forms (ich bin gefahren/ ich habe gegessen) article declension when using direct, indirect, possessive object Please note; this list is by no means complete. Work out your personal checklist. You know best where you make mistakes and what to look out for. Don't miss out on this great opportunity to refresh and intensify your grammar knowledge in a small group. You will be able to submit topics you are interested in up to 2 days before the workshop. As well as your requested topics we will also cover, Passiv Voice ... (how to use and incorporate it in your oral and writing exams), Reflexive Verbs and Prepositions. We will conduct our intensive German Grammar workshop on Thursday, 6 April from 9.30 am - 12.30 pm in St Kilda East. Minimum number of students is 3, maximum 6 students. When learning a foreign language, where there is the additional challenge of the oral exam, some students seek the help of a private tutor.
