25.01.2022 Sunday Duty Officers Report: Busy week again we attended 13 calls this week, which brings us to a grand total of 317 calls for the year. This is down on the same time last year and we seem to be about 25% down on last year's calls.... Of the 13 calls this week they were: 4 Rescue calls 4 Grass & Scrub calls 3 Alarm calls 1 Assist Ambulance Victoria 1 Animal Assist (Little duckling fell down a drain) Mum and Dad we believe it was Daffy and Daisy Duck with their children Huey, Dewey and Louie were waddling near a drain, we are not sure which child but one fell down. Concerned locals called the duty officer and three members attended to get the little fella out. Daffy and Daisy watched and seemed thankful when we returned their little one. The Duck family all seem pretty happy in the garden when we left them.

22.01.2022 Today, the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC released its seasonal outlook for December to February. Average to above average rainfall during spring, combined wi...th an outlook of above average rainfall for much of Victoria, indicates we will experience a less severe bushfire season this summer but an increased risk of grass fire. Here’s what Victoria’s fire agencies say this means for fire risk. Fire Rescue Victoria | Forest Fire Management Victoria
22.01.2022 Today we had members practising off road driving techniques, during our fire seasons our members and trucks can end up anywhere so this training is very important! Thanks to Burdett's for allowing us to use their Quarry.

18.01.2022 Road Safety Week is an opportunity to highlight the devastating impact motor vehicle collisions have on our loved ones and our first responders. CFA responded t...o a total of 4,350 motor vehicle collisions last year and during the warmer months we saw an increase on the monthly average. We know Victorians are making plans to get back on the road this weekend and over summer. We are asking you to make sure every journey you make is a safe one.

12.01.2022 Sunday duty officers report: We attended 9 calls for the week. The calls were:... 3 Alarm calls 2 Rescue calls 2 Grass fires 1 Structure fire 1 Non-structure fire As Movember comes to a close the Langwarrin Fire Brigade would like to thank all those individuals and businesses that have donated towards the brigade team raising in excess of $2500 towards this amazing cause. Movember is a leading charity tackling men’s health on a global scale, their goal: to stop men dying to young. Movember run awareness and fundraising activities year-round, with the annual Movember campaign in November being globally recognised for tis fun, disruptive approach. During Movember, men and women around the world raise funds and awareness by growing or supporting a moustache, getting physically active or by hosting or attending a Movember event. In addition to Movember’s awareness and education programs it is encouraging men to become more aware of their health, to talk about the big stuff in life, and take action when health issues arise. 2020 is the first year the Langwarrin Fire Brigade has put together a team, ably lead by Firefighter Fletch, a veteran of the Movember challenge. The team, made up of Lieutenant Mark Walton, Firefighter Matt Wright, Firefighter Donna Wright and Firefighter Craig Aiton have been working hard since day one growing a variety of Mo’s and encouraging conversations about men’s health. Donna’s has been trying hard to grow a Mo without much luck but her contribution in supporting the team has been excellent. The team has over 80 years of combined volunteer firefighting experience and all have been touched by men’s health issues, husband and wife duo Matt and Donna felt it was not only a great cause to support but a great way to support the brigade they have only recently joined, Matt joined Langwarrin approximately 18 months ago with Donna joining just before COVID19 halted training. Donna is now completing the General Firefighter training and cannot wait to get on the truck and support the community. The Movember website; has links to support for mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. While there why not donate to the Langwarrin Fire Brigade Team or an individual Team member, all money raised goes to support men’s mental and physical health. Twenty three CFA teams have taken part this year raising over $19,000, not that we are a competitive lot but we are third at time of writing so how about you forgo that morning coffee and donate to a great cause. Donations can still be made at https://movember.com/t/langwarrin-fire-brigade?mc=1 Thank you to those that do support and make a donation!

Glad to see some faces (even with face masks on) that we haven't seen for a while. You will start to see us more in the community as we start to move to a COVID normal.

07.01.2022 To make sure your barbecue is safe: * If a fire occurs, don’t try to extinguish the flames if it is not safe to do so. Call Triple Zero and turn off the gas at the meter or cylinder, but only if you can do so safely. * Do not use barbecues in windy conditions as the burners may blow out, risking a gas leak. * Check the LP gas cylinder on your barbecue before you turn it on. A cylinder must not be refilled if it hasn’t been tested for more than 10 years or if the cylinder has ...been damaged. * Have your gas cylinder tested and ensure you use a licensed gasfitter. * You can exchange LP gas cylinders at a reputable supplier. * Check the hose to make sure it has not deteriorated. * Check the connections to make sure they are tight and that the O rings are in good condition and have not cracked or split. * Use your barbecue in a clear space. Never use it indoors or in a confined area and ensure there is adequate clearance from walls, fences, and other property. * Cook with barbecue utensils and wear an apron to protect yourself from hot fat. * Remove excess fat from the barbecue after each use to prevent fires. 05.01.2022 Sunday Duty Officer report. Thankfully another slow week again this week, the brigade responded to only one job and also one assist through unofficial channels. The job was a rescue and the one of our members cut of a ring for a very thankful resident.... The photo was taking before covid, way back when we opened our current station.
05.01.2022 Sunday duty officers report: Busier week this week, we responded to ten calls. This week we attended: Gas leak... Vehicle fire Burn off Fence fire Grass and scrub fire Two alarm calls Three rescues Luckily most didn’t require much action from the brigade Here is hoping for a quieter week next week.
04.01.2022 Earlier this evening the brigade was responded through unofficial channels to a resident trapped, she was able to get to the station where she was met by one of our members who was successful in freeing her. Now luckily she was only trapped in the ring not the relationship. The finger is fine although the same can’t be said about the ring.
