22.01.2022 Thanks to Brad Waters who wrote this about my jump out on Tuesday Lankan Rupee continued his build-up to his first run of the spring with a jumpout at Caulfield on Tuesday morning. The five-time Group I winner will appear in Saturday week’s Group II Schillaci Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield after pleasing his trainer Mick Price with his latest hit-out.... Lankan Rupee showed his customary speed before jockey Craig Newitt eased him down 700m into the 1100m jumpout. Price said the son of Redoute’s Choice’s recent Cranbourne trial meant he only needed a short workout to have him right for the Schillaci Stakes. Lankan Rupee has not raced since suffering bone bruising when he beat one runner home in the Group I TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) in Sydney. Price said Lankan Rupee has recovered from the injury but the autumn problem prompted a slight change of training for the six-year-old. Lankan Rupee trialled pretty well, Price said. Craig felt his fitness was pretty good and we are probably being a little bit careful with him this prep. I probably had him pretty fit for the Lightning first-up last prep but we’ve been really careful with him because he’s a little bit older and all that sort of stuff. We’re very happy with him looking forward to the Schillaci Stakes.
22.01.2022 Craig Newitt was short and sweet about my jump out this morning #readytogo
