24.01.2022 2019 // As the year draws to a close, I wanted to say a quick thank you to all of you I’ve worked with over the year - I’m so privileged to know so many incredible people in my work life, and it’s the reason I love what I do so much! I’m signing off after today, back on deck with my @media_stable team ready for a cracking year on the 6th Jan. I’m looking forward to unwinding & spending some quality time with my loved ones... Wishing you all a wonderful festive season and an incredible 2020 ahead : Stef Spills Ink

24.01.2022 THE EXPERTS // Have you heard the latest episode of The Experts podcast? Nic and I interviewed the wonderful Samantha Jackson - Celebrity Coach and I personally loved hearing more about Sam's philosophy to media, and probably life in general. Sam is all about showing up in everything she does, every time she does it. For someone that's had such large scale and consistent success in media and in business, I find that pretty inspiring. Listen below x https://www.mediastable.com.au/samantha-jackson-2/

17.01.2022 MENTAL HEALTH WEEK // So in honour of Mental Health Week, I wanted to share a little of my journey with it - particularly as a small business owner - for any of you out there that might be in a similar position. I’m generally a fairly private person but I’m very passionate about bringing awareness but more importantly ACTION to an issue that in my opinion, is one of the biggest factors in small business failure rates in Australia. After two babies, two small businesses, five... moves in as many years, a marriage separation, and a fairly spectacular but gruelling year in my coaching business, I came very close to burn out at the end of last year. The festive season is normally one of my favourite times of year but I felt overwhelmed, trapped and this weird agitation that just wasn’t normal. Those of you that know me, know I’m a fairly classic extrovert - I love people, love socialising, love getting out and about and doing, being, seeing. But all I wanted to do was to hide inside with my kids. No outside world. I was mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted - to my bones. Something I’d felt a hint of before - I usually push myself pretty hard - but never to this level. It was pretty alarming, to be honest, and the only thing that seemed to help was being alone. Again not something I generally crave. Fortunately it passed. And lucky it did, because if you’re not driving yourself as a small business owner and single mum, who else is going to (#amIright)? But again, just three months after my first taste of burnout, it came knocking again. But this time not only were the mental and emotional effects there, my health was also starting to pay the price. And I knew then I had to make some very serious changes if I was going to avoid running into a brick wall. The truth is, I’ve always prided myself on my strength, energy and determination. I’m ambitious and love a challenge and as I was going through one of the most challenging five years of my life, I prioritised career above all else. It was a survival mechanism in a way but one that clearly wasn’t working for me anymore. I had to reassess and pull back. Which for someone like me is hard - it felt akin to admitting defeat. But slowly I began to realise these two tastes with burnout were blessings - a chance for me to really sit back and reevaluate - what was really important. So that’s my message to anyone of you out there that has or is still currently struggling with mental health issues. Small business is relentless- don’t let the glamour fool you. Pull back from the demands of social media, networking, engaging when you need to. And don’t be afraid to seek help. The great news is I’m well and truly out the other side - I love my job, I have two gorgeous kids and a gorgeous man, an incredible family and group of friends. And I’m getting better every day at looking after me. #mentalhealthweek #mentalhealth
