25.01.2022 Happy New Year! May the new year see you loving, giving and living! Our residents certainly continued enjoying the festive season over the Christmas period with a beautiful Christmas Day lunch and even taking on the role of dressing as Santa himself. We were also visited by some cheeky elves as well.

24.01.2022 Happy birthday Koula! We hope your day was extra special.

21.01.2022 How gorgeous does Marie look after her visit to the Reflections Wellness Centre Hair and Beauty Salon? Feeling invisible is an emotion often felt by aging Australians, with social isolation being a problem faced by many older women. These visits to the salon help our lovely residents to feel beautiful at any age.

20.01.2022 Easter brought us our very own chicks with a hatching program providing residents with hours of enjoyment. The arrival of the newly hatched chicks caused great excitement amongst our residents and staff.

20.01.2022 Today, and every other day, we are grateful for those who put their life on the line for this beautiful country we call home. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them. Lest we forget.

18.01.2022 We have been lucky enough to be given a Tovertafel Magic Table to trial. Tovertafel is a wonderful inclusive technology that provides joyful activity with physical and cognitive benefits. Residents are enjoying the fun interactive games which have been specifically developed for people living with Dementia. The games encourage both physical and social interactions and create valuable moments of happiness.

17.01.2022 Last week we enjoyed lots of Easter activities. A favourite among our residents was Easter card making - we are always so impressed with the creativity in the room.

14.01.2022 Happy birthday Mr Los! We hope you had a special day.

13.01.2022 This week we recognised Remembrance Day. Our residents made wreaths from paper poppies. We took the time on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month for a minute's silence to commemorate those soldiers who died fighting to protect the nation. We had representatives from Kirribilli and Mosman RSL Clubs to conduct a Remembrance Day Service which held many memories for our residents. Those residents who were unable to attend were able to watched the service from the Australian War Memorial in Canberra on the television.

12.01.2022 The beautiful Autumn weather allowed us to have our Annual Jazz on the Green event outdoors. The event is always a firm favourite with our residents.

12.01.2022 We hope 2021 brings happiness to all of our staff, residents and their families.

12.01.2022 The race that stops a nation came to Lansdowne Gardens this week. We learnt about the history of the Melbourne Cup and looked at the fashion over the years with some very fashionable residents of our own on race day. Cup Day celebrations included wonderful High Tea treats crafted by our kitchen team served with champagne. Sweepstakes were also held. The race was viewed on big screens and was followed intently.

12.01.2022 Zumba fun with Maria! Maria has tailor made Chair Zumba sessions for our residents, even including music from their era. Zumba fitness classes have plenty of health benefits ranging from boosting emotional health, enhancing cardiovascular health, helping manage weight and improving mobility. Our residents thoroughly enjoy each class with energising music, dance movements and a fun time shared together.

11.01.2022 As we age our skin goes through change. Over time, it will grow thinner, meaning it is less able to protect and rejuvenate itself. This is why providing extra care to your skin during the warmer months is so important.

10.01.2022 This week we celebrated Oktoberfest! We learnt about Germany during an Armchair Travel session, enjoyed a German themed lunch and tasted German pretzels (baked fresh from a German bakery!) and was all washed down with a variety of German beers. It was the costumes though that made the day! Wycombe Road resident, Averil, penned this poem titled ‘10 German Walkers’. 10 German walkers, lined up in a row. All spruced up with nowhere to go. Then along came some patients looking fo...r a ride. They grabbed some of the walkers and took them aside. There stood some wheelie bins filled to the brim with last nights party goers bottles and cans, empty and smelly In the midday sun. Blame it on the lockdown goes up the call. Where are our walkers it’s getting very hot, we’ve all got hangovers let’s bring on the nurses. Who knows what potions are hidden in their purses. How do they remember which machine belongs to its owner but somehow, they do and as well bring out the high tea and chilled lemonade. The walkers are cooling, reunited again, back in the hallway, was it a dream? See more

09.01.2022 This week we celebrated the Nepalese festival of Dashain, with Armchair Travel to Nepal. Our staff were able to tell us about the festival and its cultural significance as well as doing some traditional dancing for our residents. Some more cooking was on the agenda for the week, also painting, puzzles and ten pin bowling. We also received a new delivery of books from Stanton Library which will keep the avid readers busy!
