02.01.2022 It was a pleasure to have Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack in East Gippsland today to announce $10 million from the Federal Government for the Lindenow V...alley Water Security Scheme. This funding scheme will help local farmers to build on-farm water storage facilities to boost their water security when flows in the Mitchell River are low. The Lindenow Valley is home to seven of Australias 10 biggest salad producers and is a major contributor to East Gippslands economy. Unfortunately, this part of our beautiful region is also suffering through the drought and production levels have fallen, costing many millions of dollars. Im determined to keep putting locals first and delivering for our community, including our farmers. The agricultural sector is the backbone of our rural communities and when agriculture is strong, our towns and businesses flourish.
