24.01.2022 Presented the cheque today for both charities with the sum totalling $21,800. This ends the chapter for Lap the Map and gives me the opportunity to thank all those that donated to the cause, a great effort by all concerned. It also gives me the opportunity to thank everyone that shared and liked the page as awareness and conversation were key in our objectives. Finally to all the riders that give up there holidays and funded the ride thank you, special mention to Hugo Miquel for your excellent organisational skills, KENT for your support throughout the ride and Kane for your support in organising the ride.

11.01.2022 Day 3 and we continue to head south. Today’s ride was dedicated to Jeff McMahon. Woody spoke of Jeff at the start of the ride and shared some insights and Jeff’s willingness to help anyone anytime and his uncanny ability to be in the right place at the right time An original and much loved coffee crawler. ... Jeff left us on 18th June 2014. His infectious smile, great sense of humour and willingness to help everyone will be fondly remembered by all those that knew him.

09.01.2022 Day 7 Today we started from Cradle Mountain to finish this epic ride into Launceston. Today wasn’t about the memory of a lost one but the story of surviving and living with depression. Today was about Kane Sanders what he lives with and how he is fighting to make his days better. This is Kane’s story:... Depression for me is like being protected by an invisible force field that is being constantly bombarded by enemy fire and the only way to rebel the flak is also to be aggressive and return fire. Even the smallest thing would set me off. My daughter asked me to pass her a towel, an easy task you would think but not for me, I totally lost it and yelled like a screaming banshee, my daughter was so scared, this behaviour happened way too often and it was time to get some help, first was to find a good counsellor and then a visit to my GP. This put me on the right track but the biggest help other than the continued love and support from my family was the conversations with a willing listener. We didn’t have to talk about feelings or emotions but to just talk, no subject was off limits or awkward. It’s a tough road with many ups and downs but I am a big believer of what you put in you will receive in kind. You need to risk it to get the biscuit. I have no doubt there will be times that the bombardment will feel insurmountable but fortunately those moments aren’t as frequent or as intense. I am in a much better position to ward of any unwanted attacks, thanks to my family and friends and a conversation.
08.01.2022 With the ride over and most of use fully recovered we have been able to close off on the MY CAUSE fundraising page. The result has exceeded our expectation's and with that we say thank you to all those that supported the fund. However whilst we reached $14,107 it is not over as we still have funds coming in and we will be able to present both charities with a cheque each on Isaac Walters Cricket Match on the 16th December. Watch this space.
