22.01.2022 When I stood here this morning and looked out to sea I felt really good about all the guests we have welcomed at La Perouse since that first day in Dec 2007. A leap of faith, a risk, a sea change or a moment of madness - at the time I wasn’t sure nor did I care whether we could make a go of it or not - as we drove over the west gate the temptation was there like Thelma and Louise to keep driving but the voice of reason, my Sue, said let’s go -we are off to open a small hotel ...by the sea it’s going to be fun! Nearly 15 years later two nurses now hoteliers the words of john Irving keep passing the open windows a quote from Hotel New Hampshire rings in my mind. I used to write this on cards, birthday, Xmas, or simply notes to friends family. A reminder (to me really) to keep going when times get tough ... one year on since we were forced to close as part of the state restrictions we are still here and I’m so grateful to all those Melbournians, Victorians and Australians who found us and made the journey down the Great Ocean Road to discover Lorne thank you See more

07.01.2022 Have you noticed the latest interior design trend? Everything is starting to look exactly the same. The obsession with old portraits for instance. Everyone loves a story especially if its about your great grandparents. But I’m not sure many of these old faces are known to the owners and I’m not sure why they chose them a lot of the time ... we have been collecting for decades and try to share a little bit of our story with you ... it’s a feminist one ... find your own style yes something that makes your heart sing!!! ... a special moment for us is when we see La Perouse through the eyes of our guests ... thank you Jo for featuring a very special corner of our little hotel by the sea - original artwork by Suzanne Bellamy . @jocaligiuri
