20.01.2022 TICK WARNING....VICTORIA Sadly I have first hand knowledge of a tick death in Melbourne. My friend‘a beautiful Cavalier was taken too early by a tick that we believe was brought into the house on firewood that came down from Queensland. The firewood was purchased from a local supplier. Please be careful...if your dog seems unwell or worse, if their back legs weaken, please do not delay in taking your dog to the vet ASAP. DO NOT let the vet tell you we don’t have ticks here......because we do!! Withholding treatment could mean the premature death of your dog. Also, please review your worming options and upgrade to one that cover all-worms, heartworm, TICK and flea protection. (PS. I used this pic of Penny looking sad, because it was her grandmother who passed away. A much loved and very valuable breeding dog, who was pregnant at the time. It is such a huge loss on so many fronts, and it would have been preventable if the first vet that saw her recognised the symptoms and treated her accordingly. So sad and upset for my good friend’s preventable loss. ) See more
