04.01.2022 COVID - 19 Economic response https://treasury.gov.au/coronavirus Coronavirus Stimulus Package: Summary thanks to Brendan Madden Financial Planner, Voyage to Freedom Financial Planning... What it is and isn’t for business. A basis overview of the key measures in simplistic terms. If you employ staff - Minimum of $2000 - Maximum of $25,000 - Based on 50% of the tax you withhold from staff wages - Applies to the Jan to March 2020 & April to June 2020 BAS periods - Not a straight up cash grant. o In most cases it will reduce the amount you owe the tax office on lodgement of the BAS o In some cases it may result in the business being in credit for the BAS period. Only then will the business receive a payment equal to the credit amount. - It is good news, you get to keep some of the tax that you would normally have to submit to the ATO, but don’t expect a magic cash payment. If you have money to spend on the business: - Immediate write off for asset purchases of up to $150,000 made before June 30. - If you business has a taxable profit for the 2019/20 year this could help reduce the tax you owe the ATO
