22.01.2022 The traditional Christmas story - child born at the back of a pub, parents escaping to Egypt as refugees, a Messiah who comes offering hope to poor and and unjustly treated peoples - we hope that for you this is more than a quaint, old-fashioned story. It's a story of a God who intervenes into humanity to offer hope and life. May this Christmas bring you renewed hope and life #larche #larcheadelaide #larcheaustralia #larchelife #larchemembers

21.01.2022 It is with much sadness that I let you know that our dear friend Helen Warmingham has died after a time of declining health. She was a dear friend to us all in L'Arche Adelaide. She believed in the L'Arche ethos, and held deeply to the dignifying understanding that all people, including all people with disabilities, are whole human beings created in God's image. We give thanks for a life well lived, and as we journey on we will hold in our collective heart the rich memories that Helen afforded us all. - God's peace with all family & friends.

04.01.2022 LArche Genesaret is based on a fundamental belief in the dignity of every person. They seek to change the world one heart at a time. Mrs Hurley serves as Pat...ron and is proud to support the LArche community. She welcomed Canberra residents to Government House earlier in the year and hopes to do so again when conditions permit. Todays example of kindness comes from LArche and epitomises the characteristics we are promoting in #KindJuly Anne Walsh OAM is excited to be returning to her work at the Old Parliament House Rose Gardens in July after months of lock-down due to COVID-19 social restrictions I love being at the rose garden, with the beautiful roses and my work mates. I like to say hello to the people who walk past and make them smile. Ms Walsh, who is a long-time member of LArche Genesaret, says kindness starts with a smile, saying a friendly hello and doing things with gentleness. 04.01.2022 Easter weekend takes us on a dramatic journey. From the drama of Maundy Thursday to the sorrow of the journey to Calvary and Jesus' death on the Cross, and burial, to the joy of Easter day where we celebrate the resurrection and new life of the Christ who rose from death. This journey from death to life informs how we can live with hope amidst the sorrows and joys of our everyday lives. Amidst the crucifying experiences of life, and the times of great joy, we can know that ultimately life in all its fullness will prevail. Beyond crucifixion there is resurrection. Thanks be to God! Easter Blessings to all, Rev. Dr. Trevor Whitney on behalf of the L'Arche Adelaide Board.

01.01.2022 Lest We Forget To Remember God, Source of love and peace, We remember, lest we forget,... Lest we forget the horrors of war and the suffering that it brings Lest we forget the sacrifice of many in being prepared to lay down their lives Lest we forget each one called into to fighting to resolve conflict which should not be Lest we forget those whose lives were cut short in battle or devastation it wrought Lest we forget the victims of war be they civilian or soldier Lest we forget those wounded and scarred, be it physically or emotionally Lest we forget the cost of conflict and the price so many pay We remember on this day, Not to glorify violence or hostility But to honour those so deeply effected Not to gloat over winners and losers, But to be more motivated to better work for peace, Not to enshrine the power and might of nations, But to see the need for collaboration and conciliation when tensions and enmity arises. God, Source of love and peace, We remember, lest we forget, Lest we forget to lament our failure to be at peace with each other Lest we forget to learn from the past, Lest we forget to exercise our compassion by helping those who still suffer, Lest we forget your call: Your call to love our enemies into neighbours, Your call to love our neighbours as ourselves Your call to the common good of all. God, Source of love and peace, We remember, Lest we forget, Amen - Jon #PrayerForTheDay #ANZACDay
