25.01.2022 The experience of prayer is a struggle; and a mystery; and a joy Prayer is simply (and profoundly) understood as the conversation of friends (but also much more!). What is your understanding (your paradigm) of prayer? * What is Prayer? (June 7) Romans 8:5-17 ; 22-30 * Why pray? (July 14)... Psalm 86; James 4:1-3; Ephesians 3:7-21 * How to pray? (July 21) 1 Samuel 1:9-20; Luke 11:1-13; Matthew 6:1-6 * What prayers is God sure to answer? (July 28) Luke 18:1-14; 2 Corinthians 12:6-10 See https://www.largsbaychurch.org.au/sermons/prayer/

22.01.2022 Woolen creations. Susie that is THE most amazing knitted teacup complete with teabag and spoon. Is is difficult to knit such a thing? What made you make it? I knew of some of our talented knitted, and then Sue surprises me again with the beanie and vest in the background of this photo. Who did you knit them for. Pam also has a lovely jumper that can not be seen in this photo. Who taught you to knit Pam? The round crochet balls are actually haki sacks that I knitted for our boys on our last holidays. Its a soft ball to keep in the air by repeated "controlled" kicks -haha. Also make good juggling balls Share a picture of your knitted creation if you like!

22.01.2022 Christmas Service 2020: All age worship 9:30am with Communion. At Christmas God abandons "Social Distancing"!... This year we'll focus on the theme of Immanuel, which means God with us. While we have been more socially/physicially distant from people this year, Christmas reminds us God need not be distant... ever! The service is inline with COVID regulations, and all are welcomethe concept of God abandoning social distancing is just a play on a buzz word/phrase of 2020 that highlights God desires to be close to us.

22.01.2022 A free helpful event coming up next Monday...

22.01.2022 Today we had the story of the birth of Jesus from a Magi... here is another take!

20.01.2022 With psychologist Dr Darryl Cross, Engage Work Faith are making some good material helping us at our work in these different times... The first piece is on leading teams when we aren't seeing each other as much; and the second one is on managing media bombardment... check them out. In total five are being made.

19.01.2022 What is "work" for? Over two Sunday's we will explore just a bit of what the bible says about work... which it turn out is equally applicable in retirement! The bible readings for each Sunday are given on webpage about there series: https://www.largsbaychurch.org.au/sermons/good-work/

19.01.2022 paradox /pardks/ noun: paradox; plural noun: paradoxes a seemingly absurd or contradictory statement or proposition which when investigated may prove to be well founded or true.... There are multiple parts of the bible and Christian thought that people have found to be puzzling paradoxes. The point of this series is to explore some of them. Last year we also considered some paradoxes, yet due to a personal tragedy in the family I didn’t finish the series. So we’ll pick up some of the issues not covered last time with a few additional ones. This series is in a draft (flexible!) form and might take another break, depending on when we return to face-to-face gatherings as I have a specific series to mark that important occasion. In this series we’ll look at the following questions: - Being weak is to be strong? 2 Corinthians 1:1-11; 12:6-10 (July 26) - Gaining by losing? Matthew 16:25 (Aug 2) - Jesus: Servant and Lord? Scripture: TBC (Aug 9) - Topic TBC, Scripture: TBC (Aug 16) - Topic TBC, Scripture: TBC (Aug 23)

19.01.2022 The Nature Festival kicked off on the weekend with a GREAT display. Many outward expressions of the beauty within! Come for a walk by and enjoy, sit in the circular seating, absorb, pray. Also take home a slice of nature beauty itself and watch it grow. Gifts of Sunflower seedling for free by the door (whilst available). Many thanks to those who put a creation in and a special thanks to Judy for coordinating.... I'm hoping we can have "spotlight" photos here on facebook for some of the great creations and people, if they wish, can comment on them - maybe how they see the beauty within Dont forget there are lots of other events for the Nature Festival that you can check out https://www.naturefestival.org.au/nature-play

16.01.2022 Our collection of cans and hampers so far was passed on to Anglicare today. We're sure there's still some out there. In view of the COVID related restrictions still in place, we'll have a final can drop/collection at church between 9-10am next Saturday. See you there!

16.01.2022 This coming Sunday (Nov 29th), marks the beginning of Advent... yes just four more Sundays until Christmas! For Advent we'll look at how the story unfolded for some of the key characters... should be fun! Further details here... https://www.largsbaychurch.org.au/ser/christmas-characters/

16.01.2022 Many thanks Allanah for your "nature creation" and gift of sunflower seedlings. To me this is the most beautiful thing of all - you put a tiny seed in the ground and give it love and care (water, warmth and sun) and it grows into something else quite different and amazingly beautiful - I do not know how but that is how amazing our Creator God is.

12.01.2022 Thanks Theresa for these "creations". Do they have a story?

11.01.2022 "Outward expressions of the beauty within" is the title of an event that our church is hosting as part of the Nature Festival 25th Sept - 4th Oct. It is a static display of "nature creations" (flower arrangements - traditional and creative, paintings and photos of nature, produce display, wooden items, verse and poetry - inspired and from God, and even woolen creations in jumpers and the like) in our foyer windows to be viewed by the people who walk past. It is a simple way t...hat we can be involved, very COVID safe, yet show the beauty within our church and community by the creations that people have made. There is so many aspects of deeper beauty as we look at nature around and also at creations we make from natural products or inspirations. It would be a great delight if you could contribute with a "nature creation" of your own. Please come speak to Judy Hunter, other ideas of other creations that could be included are welcome.

10.01.2022 Postponed, sadly. Super! Looking forward to being able to contribute to making Christmas better for some people in whats been a hard year. Please join us too!

08.01.2022 Each of us have had some memorable encounters in life, and some we’d like to forget (for a range of reasons)! There are a few encounters that have set the course of our history, and world history too. The Bible records many encounters that Jesus had with a vast array of different people. In each encounter Jesus was somehow unexpected, and so these encounters genuinely impacted those in them. Through these stories we’ll see how Jesus also personally encounters us, and is the person we need to encounter too. https://www.largsbaychurch.org.au/sermo/encountering-jesus/

04.01.2022 Yesterday we met for first Sunday of 2021, and with new things there is new anticipation! Of good things... it's this anticipation which describes "hope" and so "hope" was our topic, from Psalm 25 and 1 Peter 1:1-9. A great summary of biblical hope is in this short video from The Bible Project... Enjoy, and blessings for 2021! https://youtu.be/4WYNBjJSYvE

01.01.2022 To mark the significant occasion of returning to gathering face-to-face after being closed, I have planned a series that relates to returning; the disruption we have experienced in the past months; lessons from a past plague; and what might God doing within each of us in these times. Here is a link to the series: https://www.largsbaychurch.org.au/sermons/returning/
