15.01.2022 There has been significant media coverage this week about a young man urinating on or near a sleeping man outside a takeaway. I received a visit from the young man concerned today, seeking to meet with and apologise to the victim. I believe him to be extremely ashamed and remorseful. We are following up the matter and will be working with the young man concerned to show him first hand the impact of inappropriate treatment of our clients to ensure he becomes an advocate for fair treatment of our rough sleepers. 10.01.2022 Today, we came together to celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day with some inspiring leaders from Ludmilla Primary School. We heard from young First Nations people as they gave an acknowledgement of country and let the crowd know who they were and where they came from / what tribe they belong to. As the Elders of tomorrow, hear our voice, it was so important we provide them with a safe space to use those voices to share their hopes and dreams... for the future. With special talks from our Hosts Program and some amazing ladies from Territory Families, the young people put down flags in front of their library and enjoyed a sausage sizzle lunch and some yummy cake afterwards. Happy National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day.

07.01.2022 On Wednesday 11th November, Larrakia Aged Care hosted the Larrakia Nation NAIDOC Elders Lunch held at Silks Darwin. It was a wonderful afternoon with our elders who all had a fantastic time catching up with old friends and family, singing along with Bill Roy, having a blast in the photo booth and had a beautiful buffet lunch and desert with endless tea, coffee and soft drinks! Once the afternoon concluded a lot of our guest expressed how they can’t wait to do it all agai...n next year. Uncle Barny Quall did a very warming Welcome to Country for the event. We also had Bill Roy from The Pearlers volunteer to be our DJ/Entertainer for the afternoon where he played and sang some old songs for us all. A handful of our awesome Larrakia Aged Care staff were there to help out for the day! Tali Stoddart had volunteered her time again to take beautiful photos and capture the whole event. Thank you to Store Manager Sam Muller and the BIG W team who kindly and generously donated Balloon Bouquets to help decorate the venue.
