25.01.2022 People who love wine want to be knowledgeable about wine and perhaps hopefully, share that knowledge with others. Wine is a subject where increased knowledge really can increase one's appreciation for and enjoyment of it. Put another way, the more you know about wine, the more you can appreciate and enjoy wine. A wine lover knows what sorts of wines they like most and why. A wine enthusiast like me understands a bit more about wine than someone who is simply a wine lover. A... wine enthusiast knows something about the different flavours and aromas of different wine grapes. Drinking and understanding the fundamentals of Wine often gets a bad rap. Sometimes it’s deserved: Elaborate and intentionally fussy language make wine difficult to get into, big reviewers and high-priced wines make normal people think it’s too expensive and precious. So if you like a glass here and there, or even buy a few bottles for holiday dinners or special occasions, how do you learn to appreciate things like how the wine was made, what it’s made from, how it tastes, and how one wine differs from another? Ask Larry Bordeaux Cheers See more

23.01.2022 Try Lots of Things, and Pay Attention to What You Like If you’re already interested in wine, this should be easy. All you really need to do is drink more wine! Drink different wines, from different parts of the world. Start with different varietals, or those different types you see wines organized by at the Bottle Shop (E.G Network Wines. Jindalee. Tastings on Friday from 5.30pm). Try a pinot noir, and then try a cabernet sauvignon. Try a chardonnay, and then try a Gris. Th...ere’s a big difference in flavour between types of wine, even the same colour. As you drink, you’ll come to associate specific flavours with specific types of wine. This is your first step to figuring out what you like and what you don’tand it’s the first step away from I don’t like/only drink red/white wine, which is huge. Too many people write off all reds or whites because they don’t like one specific type, and that’s all they’ve ever had. Enjoy your wine journey Cheers .. Larry Bordeaux See more

14.01.2022 The smell of young wine is called an aroma while a more mature wine offers a more subtle bouquet"

14.01.2022 Did you know that one grape cluster (around 75 grapes) gives us one delicious glass of white wine? Therefore 4 clusters (300) give us a whole bottle to ourselves! Can you just imagine if we had our own vineyard, the possibilities are endless Cheers.......... Larry Bordeaux

12.01.2022 I recently had a trip to the Hunter Valley and had the pleasure of a wine tasting at Lakes Folly which is Australia's first boutique winery, Lake's Folly was established by Doctor Max Lake and his family in 1963. Lakes Folly have two flagship wines - a Cabernet blend and a Chardonnay .Two great wines to try if ever you are in the Hunter Valley. Cheers .... Larry Bordeaux

11.01.2022 Wine lovers always say it is customary to smell your drink prior to the first sip as part of the tasting experience. Some wines are to dry for the consumer's taste due to the tannic acids so swirling the glass draws oxygen from the air into the wine to encourage the wine to release all of its powerful aromas .

04.01.2022 "Buying Wine with Confidence" Don’t get frazzled when you’re shopping for wine. Browsing and buying wine should be a fun, positive experience. Remember these helpful hints when you hit the wine shop: No one in the world knows everything about wine. Smart people aren’t afraid to ask dumb questions. The purpose of wine is to be enjoyed.... Expensive doesn’t necessarily mean you will enjoy it more. The purpose of wine is to be enjoyed. Cheers Larry Bordeaux See more

03.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.

01.01.2022 Wine makes people happy, it’s a known thing but as it turns out, there are a few cool facts about this alcoholic beverage that you probably didn’t know. Here is 1 fact about wine that will make you look at your wine glass a bit differently. The custom of bumping glasses with a cheers greeting came from old Rome where they used this method to make sure no one is trying to poison the other (bumping glasses makes the drink spill from one cup to the other). This tradition started even earlier in ancient Greece where the host was to drink the first cup of wine to show his guests he does not intend to poison them. Cheers ...... Larry Bordeaux
