So whichever form you apply, it ultimately needs to reach retinoic acid before any of the benefits can happen. There are FOUR STEPS to the conversion into retinoic acid and the fewer conversions required, the faster the benefits are delivered to the skin. SIMPLE. - RETINYL ESTERS The weakest form... of vitamin A, it requires a minimum of THREE conversions and must go through the full vitamin A cycle. This means the anti-ageing benefits take a long time to be realised. As the 'Experts in vitamin A' we don't use any retinyl esters in any of our products. - RETINOL Requires TWO conversions, it has similar effects to retinoic acid, however it must first be converted to retinaldehyde and then to retinoic acid to be used by the skin.
