15.01.2022 thanks grey nomads for liking our page. Camp along the river. There is a good kilometre of water frontage free camping. As it is permanent water it is a good bird watching place and youll even hear the occasional bark of a koala. We have sighted at least 62 bird species including this splendid fairy wren. In winter mornings you will see turtles in the water stretching out their white striped necks to catch the first warm rays of sunshine. Beautiful place to enjoy a quiet paddle.

10.01.2022 Started picking some fresh salad greens and herbs a few weeks ago. Nice to have the no-dig garden renovated and productive. Mulberries in good supply so have made mulberry muffins and about to stew some for cereal and desserts. Yard is looking good at the moment with the azaleas, camelias and bougainvillea in full flower.

09.01.2022 The Ward River has had a nice run thanks to the recent rain. Height came up to the old bridge so our waterhole will be flowing over for quite a while to come. Amazingly green everywhere on the ground and the mulga is nice and fluffy grey thanks to about 136 ml in December.

02.01.2022 For those travelling the Quilpie Road to the Birdsville races, the Balloon Hop Bush is just starting to flower on the ridges around Lass OGowrie west of Charle...ville. It is quite conspicuous from the road, but well worth a stop to take a photo. There are several forms of hop bush flowering together, but this is the one with the largest fruit. It dries well in a vase of water and keeps its colour for about a year. I always have a few bunches of hop bush in the house. See more
